OIL FILTER BA Astina 323 95'
hey guys, i have a 95 BA Astina
is there any way of removing the oil filter without special tools? i have basic tools like screwdriver and socket sets... i have sticky lifters soo im putting Nulon Free Lifter in with the new Magnatec 10w40 and a new oil filter...its time to clean my internals ;-) and anyone know where the specific location is of the filter? not that im lazy and dont wanna check for myself...just need to be sure :-) thanks again guys! Back of the engine, under the intake manifold. Easiest way is from under a car up on jackstands or ramps (not just a jack!), and reach up past the exhaust.
And if you don't have a filter wrench of some sort, then: A) you might be lucky and it's loose enough to undo with your hand, or B) stab it with a screwdriver

thanks Rupe!!! always to the rescue ;-)
my mate has some car ramps soo i will be able to use those... ill stab it...seems like that should work...given that both sides are stabbed enabling the screwdriver to pass through both sides of the filter? thanks again mate, im guessing the drain plug will be at the lowest part of the engine ;-) |

Even just one side to get some leverage. Be warned - it's messy
And yeah, the bolt at the bottom of the sump towards the back of it.

I've consistently been able to get the oil filter off my car and my brother's car without a filter wrench. I realised that the first time I changed my oil, after the wrench in the kit I got from supercheap was too small.
Having massive hands helps I guess |

dam people and their overgrown hands XD
bursons had really good service...but i think the guy gave me an oil type oil which would be considered thin for an older car... should be OK though :P |

if it is fitted with the correct size filter. a 10yo hand could get it off. they are a very small filter.
if not, go buy a $6 filter wrench. |

Or just get some old rag, wrap it around the oil filter and a screw driver. Spin the screwdriver end over end til it is very tight then unscrew off. Had to do that on the dozers as the oil filters sat with the thread on the top and if you pierced it (even with the oil drained) it would leak oil everywhere. I have an oil filter wrench and have never used it for the oil filter on my car as they are very easy to get off.

hahaha SUCCESS!!!!!!! took me about an hour to do it...
tried the screwdriver but that didnt work coz i had no room to take a swing at it...but a drill was able to puncture a hole into the filter enabling me to use a screwdriver to rotate it enough soo i could remove it...wasnt too messy as i let it drain for ages! placed the new oil in it as well as the Nulon Free Lifters and there is no more sticky levers...thus no more oil leaking into the engine bay, and no more burning oil!!!!! overall a great success...car drives great now ^_^ thanks for everyones help |

what also works is getting a rag (very dry one not a oily one) and squeezing the filter really hard (this dints it) than with the rag taking it of thats how i do it
good to hear you did it but |
