you should stick some shielding between the pod and engine to keep the hot air away, then run some piping to the front bar to direct cool air to the pod.

don't be afraid to put the front bumper off, it isn't hard, it just takes a little bit of time. anyway the steps to doing it are:

1. in each guard there will be little plastic screw things long the front edge where the bumper meets it, undo these.
2. pull the guard lining back so you can get a screw driver behind the corner of the bumper, there is a screw/bolt there. (its a Phillips screw/8mm bolt combo i think)
3. remove both headlights
4. disconnect any other wiring to the bumper, including indicators. not sure how the hatch works, but the hardtop just twist and unplug. the hardtop foglight loom is also clipped to the bumper, even if you dont have foglights, so i would assume the hatch is the same. the trick to unclipping the wires (you should see them when you remove the headlights) is to get a screwdriver behind them and unclip one side, you can then pull them out, DONT just try to pull them out with out unclipping them, you can damage the bumper and the wiring.
5. undo the 4 big bolts that were covered by the headlights. they are goldy yellow and are 17mm i think.
6. pull off the front bar.if it snags check for any other wiring you've missed and i dont have

to reinstall the bumper, same steps in reverse. oh, i suggest putting a blanket on the floor to put the bumper onto, especially if you've just had it painted, you don't want to scratch it.

water getting in would depend on the style and orientation of the vent/scoop. Also whether water would get in when stationary or driving also.

i bet the water would come in bourbs, especially if you ran a proper scoop, it would scoop up rain just as effectively as air.

Water is still going to come in whether it's a scoop or vent!

From what i can gather, you are not aware that a scoop and a vent a suposed to do different things?
A Scoop is 'suposed' to actualy let air in, and a vent is 'suposed' to let air out.

If you have the time to read a full post/thread on fl.com - its worth reading this

Now you're getting complex by saying it’s a scoop shaped vent. Is it a vent or is it an air inlet? A scoop isn't defined as something that is either an inlet or outlet, unlike a vent which is distinguishably something that is an outlet. A scoop is just a name of the physical shape of it, not the process it causes.

Just because you say it’s a vent, doesn't mean its venting. The same with the scoop.

If you don't want to read the fl.com thread I posted, Read this instead, it will explain it better for you. http://tinyurl.com/2rvnxq

OMFG

Vent is an abbreviation for ventilation. It does not indicate which side is which.

Bourbs... Drop it, it's not worth your time.

Newman... Accept that other people can and will have an opinion that may not agree with yours. Different does not equal wrong!

Cosmo Dude...

in the context we were discussing, a 'vent' and 'ventilation' are two different things. not an abbreviation at all.

I do accept people have different opinions. Why don’t you accept that I have a different opinion? I was only trying to explain to bourbon where he was getting confused. Was my explanation incorrect? I wasn't trying to stir up ****, getting angry or being sarcastic at all. Why does everyone completly miss read me?

Since you know so much about it, why don't you clarify where I was wrong and clear it up for everyone! End the confusion and incorrect/difference of opinions

I didn't say you were wrong and I didn't say Bourbs was right. I'm saying that you need to have an open mind and allow other people to have an opinion.
