Couple of small interiour problems..

Hey guys, anyone know how to remove the auto gear shifter knob on a 97 BA astina?
Took the two screws out on the front of it but it still doesn't seem to come off and I don't want to force it or break it guessing, also as I was trying the top button popped out by itself with the spring still attached lol, which now won't go back into it's original position either :S it goes back in and works but now sticks out further than it was before... I guess there's a trick to putting that back in properly too? I want to replace it later anyway as the button is cracked from the previous owner.

Also is it a common problem for the cigarette lighter to die? I took the dash off to check the wires, they are all connected, and the small ashtray light (which is plugged into the same socket as the lighter wires) still works so it is getting power to that pair of wires, just the cig lighter won't work even with other phone chargers etc being used on it...

it frustrated the hell out of me but I got it off. theres a plastic spear-like thing inside, i had to feed the wires and plugs out and then it will slide up, leaving the shaft intact.

So take the dash off, and undo the wires at the bottom them feed them up through the shaft from underneath? and just pull the knob up till it comes off? no turning it etc?

there's an electrical connector under the shift indicator panel... that is the connector for the hold button circuit... you must unclip the connector and disconnect it, then using a terminal tool or jeweller's screwdriver, pull the terminals out of the connector... once you do that, you can then remove the two screws in front of the gear knob and pull it off... nothing more specific than that according to the shop manual

If you feel like it, take some pics of the process and write me some steps and I'll add it to the dash removal guide. I apologise ive never had to deal with the auto shifter
