While in Toowoomba for the weekend, I had the opportunity to shoot some action shots of my to be brother in-laws soccer game, I'll post some of them tonight

I think I have come to the conclusion I need the best of light to get any decent shots, but cant fault my larger point & shoot

yeah they dont care if you have SLR, DSLR or point & shoot or even film...but alot of them do go for quality of photo and also the "ideas" of the photo...

So these are just a couple taken from sitting on the ground around 12pm, so not too glarey, but then the photo of the Torana was way too late/glarey, I had to hide the reflection of the sun behind the bonnet or hell broke loose

Taking action shots while already in focus is hard at times, especially with kids Wouldnt be a problem with DSLR's i'd assume

Hi Guys/Gals
One of the most important things I learned Is Viewpoint! most people View the world from about 5'6" and people hold the camera up to their eye while standing to take pictures. It is the photos that are taken from non standard viewpoints that attract the viewer because it gives them a view of the object that is not usually seen eg birds eye view, worms eye view, like the shot of the Torana its taken from about 2'6" or 3' it gives a different view of the car that most people dont ever see cause they dont get on their knees or "sit on the ground" to look at a car (nice shot marc) (also great shot of the Brissy river Chewyrice I would have been pretty happy to have taken that one)

Hey bourbon L series lenses are the ultimate I own a Canon 35-350 L zoom and a Canon matched 2x tele converter Gives me wide to super-tele with just 1 lens and a converter yep 35 to 700mm just no auto focus when using the converter. With Lenses Buy the most expensive piece of GLASS you can afford after all the camera is just the little black box at the end of the EYE!! Its sort of like a cheep chinese turbo Vs a real Garrett you really do get what you pay for!!
Cheers

I agree, my GF has just got a Canon 5D MK II and got a L series 18-135mm lens with it, it has to be one of the best lenses I have ever seen and the quality of the pictures is amazing, also the quality of the video is unreal.
But it is 21 mega-pixel, which kinda blows my new 14.1 mega-pixel Canon Ixus 210 Touch out of the water.
I couldn't be bothered with a another new advanced point and shoot/quasi SLR as half the time I never take it with me cause of their size and it takes too long to go though all the settings to get them right.
And if I want a nice camera I can just beg the GF.

If anyone is interested I can get my hands on a few Nikon D80 SLR cameras

They are 10.2 Megapixel and come with 2 lenses a 18-55mm and a 70-300mm
They are in very good condition and come in their boxes with all manuals.
They are 2-3 years old and as new.
I can get them for approx $600 each if anyone is interested PM me.
