if its a trip wire it'd connect to remote out on the HU, same as you use for triggering amp and aerial.
i have the feeling it maybe power for a small signal amplifier

new problem:
the car monitor has 4 wires acc 12v ground and extra remote (i think) and it seems something is drainin the battery at night. i couldn get the car running at all the other day, an after i got the RAA to change the battery, he said something is taking its power slowly. any ideas how/why it could be the monitor? i wired it up correctly to the wires behind the head unit with 3 way adaptor crimping leads.... if i dont fuigre it out soon im just gonna sell the screen an spend it on the engine...

could be a variety of things, best bet is to get a current meter and hook it up to the battery, and turn everything off. try unplugging the monitor and see if it causes a lower current draw. oh, stuff like remote entry, alarms and HUs use a tiny bit of charge when the car is off so expect minor current draw even when the car is off

ok, ill try that! thanks.
if it turns out to be the monitor, what should i do? should i wire it up instead of constant 12v, wire up both the power wires to the ACC? that way it would be on when the car is off??

ok depending on the unit it'll use 12v constant for memory saving so you will lose all your settings if you wire it up to acc only, not to mention overdrawing on the acc. i think it'd unlikely to be the monitor personally, unless you have it running off 12v constant for both acc and power, in which case it could possibly be constantly drawing power

it sucks. i cat fuigre it out then. the only thing i can think of tat it also could be, is maybe the fact iv got two things unning of the one wire. the 12v cable has the headunit an the monitor, and also the ac wire has the same. could hat be causing an issue?
f i cant work it out i think im just gonna install it again, if it goes flat ill just remve the monitor and sell it off.

thats how mine is setup so that should cause any issue. you aren't sitting in it watching movies with the stereo cranked up are you? aftermarket stereo can kill a standard battery pretty quickly if you're not driving it

i used it a few times while driven, so show the cd menu, but that was it... could it be something to do with the way the cables are covered up? is elec tape dodgy?

....
yes, very. have you just twisted the wires together? thats about as shoddy as it gets. go does to supercheap and get some crimp terminals or a soldering iron. oh, and it cant be shorting, otherwise it'd blow the fuse.

the pioneer unit I have has the option to add an external tuner, and extra accesories & 12V wires on standby, just curious as to the how the antenna would work, as both ebay pages I have posted show 2 different set-ups...

possibly try googling a diy install guide but as far as mounting it also depends on how your car fits HU into it. my bg has a metal frame much the same as in a pc for your hdd/optical drive but my corolla has 2 "legs" that screw into the side of HU and then screw into part of the dash
