ute sub boxes?

quick question,
can i use a ute sub box in a normal car? i get that theyre designed for a smaller space, but i have a cool stereo idea that would work with a ute shaped box. if they cant be used is there anyway to make it work?

p.s id be using my type s sub in it too, not a slim line sub.

dont see any reason why not but it depends on if the sub will actually fit depth-wise.
from memory the only diff between a "normal" box and a "ute" one is the shape as what affects the tuning is the volume of the box
(unless the utebox was made for the shallow subs in which case the volume would be diff aswell)

what im curious about is where are you placing it? my initial thoughts was that you were to place it behind the centre console, but now thinking your still going to retain it in the boot?

ute sub boxes are generally too small for the sub to produce the right sound. It'll just sound tinny. if you want a smaller sub to fit under a seat or in a fake boot floor then there are boxed ones with dreivers attached

so will it work or not? As the main reason why i want it is coz i got a good idea for the stereo. Or could i maybe get a design made up that would suit the subs specs?

check the volume of the ute box, anything will work if it has the right capacity

one cubic foot is the minimum u can have for a 12" 400W sub (like my old kenwood for eg) that, sealed, will give you unmatched responce and very tight bass, but its weaker than lets say a 2cuft ported box that gives you "earth shattering" bass that is very damn sloppy

hey guys.

got a ute aswell as a astina and my sub in ute goes awsome just a little to big.

its a cadence 12 inch slimline but it pumps great for a ute.

its probs 4 cm to big and i cant get it behind passengers seat.

anyone got a good slimline sub they can recommend has to be as small as possible

Pioneer do good little slimline subs, and from an article I read a couple months ago (sorry cant remember the name of the magazine) they were value for money...
