Stereo struggles

Hey everyone,

So ive come to a bit of a crossroad on my 2001 sp20 that i would really like some opinion on.

Well lets be honest, FM transmitters arent always the nicest thing to constantly use as most of them break easily and have some poor sound quality after a few months hence the task is to be able to have a kind of Aux port via an iphone cable so i can charge a phone while playing music that is controllable from the headunit and based on research that ive conducted i have two options.

Option 1: An iPhone kit that plugs straight into the back of the stock headunit which i could run through the glove box DIY style which wouldnt be too hard.

In terms of a price tag its 130 AUD including shipping.

Option 2: a brand new head unit all together which i will most likely install myself (as installation fees are about 100 bucks) but i havent done too much research on double din brackets or harnesses except for the fact they are about 20-30 bucks each.

Both would work fine (unless im missing something) and not disturb the inside scheme of that orange-red blend (as the headunit is "colour adjustable"). What do you guys think would be better off? Ive asked people around my area and they havent really helped much :/ feel free to add in new suggestions or comment on dealings with both places.

I appreciate it a ton guys!

Unless you have a particular reason to keep the stock stereo, go aftermarket. The sound quality and power output on the stock stereo is pissweak.

Fitting an aftermarket jobbie is relatively straightforward.
