i see a lot of BA(94-98) owners with an apexi or HKS/apexi-style muffler. Are they universal mufflers or especially deigned for the mazda 323F/astina? or maybe custom made..

in Holland they dont have so many accesories for the V6 in stock...the only muffler originally in stock for the V6 is the Remus....

the rest i have to get from abroad.....

like to know more about your experiences with your mufflers

i have a remus in combination with a monsterflow air filter. in city it makes a nice soun but doesnt go as low as a HKS or apexi which i have heard under honda's and RX7's

what i like about the remus is that it doesnt get annoying on the highway..only growls at 2000-2500 rpm

will i lose that when i get a HKS or apexi?

thxn 4 the info[/colorost_uid0]

Putting a HKS or APEX-i muffler (especially an n1), the noise will be much much louder than your Remus muffler. It'll drone much louder. It really depends on what type of sound you like. Remus exhausts are designed so that it isn't excessively loud. I know that APEX-i mufflers are very loud cos of their straight through design... and I know that in some cars, it is actually above the legal db limit down here in Melbourne Australia.

So yeah, if you change to an HKS or APEX-i exhaust, you won't get the same sound as your Remus... they are very different. It really dependds on what sound you are after. My exhaust is custom made, cos I was after looks and wanted twin tips, one on each side of the rear bar.

I think only Remus has a muffler specially designed for your car, whereas the other mufflers are universal fit. If I were you, I'd keep the Remus as it's a well made muffler, but if you are after a louder sound, than you can always change to the Japanese brands, but you have to know that it would be way way louder than what you've got at the moment.

Btw, nice car you have! [/colorost_uid1]

thnx 4 the compliment, apparition

have you checked our 323F club page already?

I have heard the HKS under a Nissan Skyline R34 in HongKong here and must say that the V6 sounds much better and clearer with that exhaust pipe. I also heard about HKS style exhausts with adjustable dampers, so i can adjust it and find a compromise of deeper sound with not TOO much noise on the highway...with my remus you don't hear anything at 100+ km/h just the monsterflow filter, but in the city i could use some more lower sounds and on the highway i don't mind a bit more noise as long as it doesnt get annoying at higher speeds(130+)[/colorost_uid0]

Hey jeroentje,

I must agree with Critter, that muffler does look smart!

When you say "you can make one", does that mean it's not a bolt on part you can buy?

Can you give us/me the details and spec's of it. I have a 2.0L V6 myself and the muffler shown is nicely tucked under the car and doesn't over hang away from the rear as other bolt on mufflers!

Cheers,

RT[/colorost_uid11]

Sorry.

You can buy a standard muffler. You have to weld some piping on it.

What information doe you need ?[/colorost_uid0]
