Broken headlight adjuster

Hey guys,

I've read a few threads about this and I'm not sure what to do. I've taken out the headlight so I can see what's going on clearly. The adjuster that adjusts up and down isn't working. By that I mean the white thing with a gold gear works and turns the other gear fine when I screw it but it doesn't have any effect on the position of my headlight. Is this kind of thing fixable?

Thanks for any help.

Mine is broken too.....

I've got a '99 BA, and I can't adjust my right hand side. Now one of those plastic adjuster screws have popped out and gone missing (damn stupid design and materials), and the whole reflector unit was pointing to the ground.

I've wedged it up again with some plastic pipe ans wire, but I don't know if I can just get another screw and fix this darn thing, or I should just replace the whole unit....which is a bit pricey.

same problem

Hey, I know it's an old thread but couldn't find a more recent one, but anyway I have the same problem on my '97 astina BA, adjuster on one side won't raise/lower the low beam anymore (I think the high beam adjuster is gone too), just keeps turning but nothing happens (the topmost screw on the white plastic block thingy), is there a solution beyond buying a new headlight for such a small problem like this? can I open it up and fix it somehow? can't be too tricky :/

Cheers.

if your BA was built before August 97, you can buy replacement adjusters blocks...
part number B01A-51-0E2 and B01A-51-0E5

I guess replacement involves opening the headlight to mess with it? Worth a shot.... you'll need to bake or heat up the headlight to break the seal

Hmmm I'll have to check on what month it was built, but I can take some photos and post them here to show what I am working with, and the cheapest full headlight that I could find is $95, so I'd rather spend a bit less :/ lol

Cheaper to buy a 2nd hand set of lights even if or with damage and scavange parts. The cars are that old some wreakers are keep the damamged ones. Original last I cheack on a HT BA they were $520 from mazda a side but that was over 6 years ago.

Lucky you don't known a series 3 BA then. No generic items available. So $300 a pop.

Don't know which side you want, and you'd have to bid.

Worth a shot for $40

forgive double post on the phone.
looking at your readers ride you should also look at getting the clear side indicators off ebay. myself and clean_cookie have done recently and it was cheapish and fitment was spot on in my case.

Well that's the thing I'm not 100% sure what series it is, some research shows I do have a series 3, then other don't, confusing :S all I know is it's built date was Nov 96, but sold as a 97 model.

Yeah I have clear side indicators on my watchlist already lol, with chrome bulbs to go behind them, so it's all nice and white/chrome themed just waiting for my next payday, just spent over a grand on everything and getting it re-registered, fun fun.

or just look at the headlights. will be h3/h1 or h1/h1 low/hi combo for the globes.

i've seen a few series 3 with the earlier style headlights. 2 earlier style headlights is cheaper than 1 late style one.

If its the same as this I have one in the shed and its $25,
I think one of the clips is broken but could easily be plastic welded back on.

that is a series 1+2 headlight phil. and most likely what he is after from the discription he has given. (see below).

i can tell because it has a a metal bolt adjustor showing. 2x height+direction for both high and low beam.

series 3 verions have plastic adjustors. only 2 adjustors (height+direction) for low beam. none for high beam.
