excellent project! Mate had one years ago. Don't know about this early model but he had the 2.0L with the legendary 5 Speed. The Celica & Supra 5 Speeds were used widely coupled to the V8 Holdens in my day. That was the rage hehe can't wait to see the progress

yea,
my brother got his TA22 when he was 17, it was a 74 with the 5 speed and the later model 1.8.(still carby) it wasn't that quick... but it was ALOT of fun...
especially in the wet
i have pics of that project within my BG's project thread (due to the high demand of people that love the TA22's on thin forum.)

what is the extent of the rebuild/ restoration??
will that that include a respray and cut and plate the rust (of coarse there will be rust )
and a recon of the engine, interior. ect.
also, are you doing it on a tight budget.
are you doing most/ all of the work yourself??
