Given that the starter is 100% aok....do you reckon chewed up ring gear? I have run out of ideas.

Earthing problem or power problem run direct power use jumper leads if you can.
or the starter is dieing just becuase it spins under no load - does not mean it's okay.
Or the relay to power it to switch it has lost it's ability to transfer it.
I had mine reqired to a external relay for this reason.

Eibachs in a BA

Drive Concord road - now tell me can you live with that road. Then say your car is so stiff that it's not uncomfortable if you have say shocks to hold them like KYB's at minimal. But lets just say handling is ultimate but the ride is Very compromise.
It's not totally stiff it's Firm. YOu know you hit ripple a bump.

Powerlines The basketball? /
I'm guessing you mean mean insulators on the end of the lines - the cermaic/ glass things ?

all they do is insulate the power from the pole.

Much, much better without a doubt. I never really push my car, but since getting the eibach's in it's funner to drive as you can push it through the corners more and it still feels completely stable. Looks much better too - and mine's only a 30mm drop!

starter operates correctly...you hear it throw the pinion out and spin as per normal. Solenoid was replaced, and motor was serviced while I had it out.

any other tests for a starter to see if its b0rked?

The eibach drop is great IMO because it removes enough not look like a hoon car. But also still heigh enough to get around 90% of normal driving condition problems.

Just had 3 speed humps in my area that it scrapped on.
But very unusual ones.

Oh back on the starter. Interesting situation. I wonder if it's throwing out too far- Or if it's not enguaging at all.
But is it a engine problem more so.

I'd say Kick start it if you can and see what noise you get.
Very unlikly to ripped the ring off the flywheel.

Oh and as for Globes.

H4 - hi -low is used becasue it's the BESt - YES it's the BEST. BUt if you see a H4 hi low in truck in HID ? - It's BLOODY LARGE.
why they moved from H3 to H1 - Cost cut.
H3 is a more expensive overall globe type and fitting.
but I think from memory reason they swapped on Ba was due to space restrictions.
Also you will note they use small globes like H3 and H1 on the smaller healights - projectors etc.
But one thing they do know is regardless of power - Bigger is better.
Even my old Ba with top range globe in all places was no match for my mx-6 - H4's and Main driving light with a H3.
Not even the LEXUS with it's HID's has a chance. it's got low H4's only on HID and driving lights but the extra Hi on the H4 just adds so much more.
I won't go into the HID version of H4's - I haven't mounted on my wagon as no real use.

Following the HID installation guide, WTF at the headlight connectors. Is there some clip or something I need to release? Such a bitch to get off I gave up before it got dark.

lol sorry my mistake
just went out to take a look. youre pretty close. you gotta hold down on the piece of rough plastic further up the "spade" if we use the pic as a reference (top left of the top connector)

Gah, what are they, glued on!? Either I'm super weak (probably) or I'm doing it wrong. So the connector. The end closest to the windscreen has that little spade bit, so I push on that, the end of the 'spade' pops up a bit. Is that right?

i pushed it under the end of the 'spade' bit. I think whey were a pretty tight fitment even without the clip locked in place

Ok I see. I got it off, hooray. Now more questions... mounting the ballast? Yeah I see a hole for a screw underneath the headlight where it would fit, and I have mounting bracket etc, but how do I attach the ballast to the mounting bracket, there's no holes or anything... and the manual booklet doesnt help "mount ballast in a good location" (Y)

So I could pull the headlight out easier. Any ideas on mounting the ballast to the bracket?
