hey guys

yes I have done a search and it turned up nothing. I am looking to install my MP3 Headunit on the weekend and life would be a lot easier for me if I could find one.

thanks in advance

get a multimeter and a 9v battery and you will be fine.

the 9v battery wont hurt you speakers and if it does whats it matter the stockis are probable getting replaced with some sweet aftermarket jobbies later

nah I would much rather use the Multimeter then a battery for that part. but each to there own. The stockies are staying in there for a while as I haven't got the $ to replace them yet

rob, i have to wiring diagrams on disk - if you shoudl turn up on the weekend i'll hand it over.....

BUT better idea in my mind would be to get a loom plug from supercheap... same plug as the 626 and the BA.... i think the 30x too.....

anyway - for $20 you avoid getting messy as the stock wires don't have much to play with,,,,

Do this.

Makes life much easier because the wires from that are generally the same colour as your HU. So its just a case of matching the colours and away you go.

I would assume the thing from Supercheats is already labelled if it's been worked out. But I'll go check that out on the weekend, makes reaching the loom for cutting/soldering so much easier too...

I also recommend buying an adaptor loom

But if you like the satisfaction of DIY ( like me ), welcome to

http://www.installdr.com/

the quick wiring area should have what you need.

the adapter loom is available from stacks of places, but in particular supercheap seem to have the best range when i've needed them - done leighs car, my mums car, my sisters car with these looms...

all the colours are ISO standard.... IE red is accessory + black is - yellow is battery + (ie constant)

and orange is the headlight dimmer - don't wire it up hehe leigh got mega pissed at me when her fuse kept blowing for her headlights!!!

the loom idea is a very good one , means you not shortening your factory harness .

How have you guys handled fitting a slightly smaller headunit into the factory din? Mine came with 2 short angles, but I don't really see how that'll make up the difference?

maybe you could make up some sort of add-on to the stock surround out of fibreglass bog or something then just paint the whole console bit from there??? that way also you'd need to remove the surround to get the HU out

Sorry for O/T BTW... The stock opening is 190x120, the HU is 178x100. I have a plastic surround that'll make the face of it look all good no worries. I meant that the actual mounting of a slightly slimmer HU inplace of the stock HU with the use of brackets, etc... I imagine not many of you get double din replacement HUs though?

Damn, I forgot to get the wiring loom and RCA leads this weekend...

Thanks Rod, but I like the idea of the loom with the plugs where you just use the sockets with shrouds over that plug into each other, very tidy and can be reused easily.

thanks for that rod. I'll most likely solder them in. Its just finding the time to put it in and get the old unit out.
