you would love my mates VW rupe, his got the superbug model with a very nice full velour retrim, acrylic gunmetal grey respray and a fully rebuilt carbie with bigger cams, extractors and a few other goodies...sounds like a hot rod when his idling then takes off!
Nice work though, looks the goods mate.

Hey Dan, I saw your beetle on Canterbury Rd yesterday (4/1). I love the matte finish on the black part of the paint and the colour combo. Nice work!

Yeah, it's a bit roddish I suppose the reason for the color scheme was seeing a (shiny) black and red beetle with whitewalls in a book years ago, and it's always stuck in my mind. Then when my paint started getting ratty, it was a case of back to the metal as the non-original paint was cracking right back to the undercoat.
i just started playing round with a few ideas, and it's ended up pretty close to the concept. It almost had flames! concept 1 - concept 2 - concept 3 Not really sure where i got the idea for the scallop from - i think it just looked a bit bare, and the white contrasted well! As to the metal flake...well that just kinda happened too Cutting the hole in the roof to put the Britax ragtop in probably was the freakiest thing to do to it, but is definitely the best purchase for it that i've made This is still the 'other' car, as this is an Astina site

Looks insane (kinda evil tho, especially in that long distance shot from behind). Very nice, 5 degrees camber, are you sure, looks more than that.

Bit of an update:
I got some new 145/65R15 tyres on the front of the Beetle...and so was finally able to adjust the torsion beam from the highest it could possibly be to about halfway down in adjustment capability. Eehehehehehehe. Next project is to lower the rear a little more
