Painting header... high heat paint questions

Howdee

Planning a new exhaust (among other things..) will be going for pacemaker header, which I want to paint green (along with other engine accents).

Looked up a few places that do high heat stuff, and green isnt on their colour list!

anyone know of any other vendors? looking at getting one colour to do header, engine accents, strut brace, brake calipers and so forth...(so the header paint, which is rated to like 1500 degrees or something crazy should cover all this)

can I paint the stuff with the flame retardent 1500 degree super paint, then paint over with a top coat rated for a lower temp?

Are there any places that mix custom colours for this sorta stuff?

VHT would be my first choice.

i looked at VHT..no green in the temp range required...
they have a green, but its only for engines..not exhausts... can i prime the header in their flame resistant stuff, then cover with engine enamel?

for the header, ud need flame proof high temp paint or get it powder coated(even better), but for back muffler(close to rear bumper), u can use enamel paint. you can paint engine parts like engine mounts, cam cover, oil pan, strut brace etc with enamel.
For brake calipers, youd need high temp caliper paint because they get really hot.

because of the heat that travels through a header ,extractor or manifold even the 1450deg f/h paint will faid an go real flat looking [****]
maybe you could do ceramic coating in polisahed finish [chrome] that will last for ever an reduse the heat under ur bonnet, then just do the green bits anywhere else you like where there is not excessive heat
good luck with ur project

not sure

i thought it'd all be as simple as high heat paint (there are some paints that are rated to 1500C that i've seen...)

i cant really apply a high heat primer then paint low heat over it...(the heat will still get transfered and the top coat will flake off)

Powdercoating...any idea how much heat this stuff can take?

i cant the the only guy out there wanting to paint his header, can i?

why not try and polish the parts you were going to paint and just replace all your hoses for shiny ones.. that allways works and comes out looking new.. use metal polish that u can buy from any automotive store

Can you grab the heat ratings for these for us too?

you'd think the caliper paint would be suitable for headers wouldnt you? or is caliper paint only rated for intermittent high heats (i.e. when brakes are applied) ?

cant polish the pacemaker..its mild steel..needs heat treatment and something to stop the bugger rusting..

wrap heat tape around it instead, looks better and give the car a racing look and better flow from the headers into the exhaust...
