Springs without shocks.
Hi guys,
When i get around to upgrading my suspention, i won't have enough money to get springs AND shocks. So i want to get some nice springs first then get some shocks to match later down the track when i have more money to blow. What sort of springs would you recommend? I wouldn't mind going with whiteline as thats likely to be the brand i use for all of my handling mods. How badly will using lower springs with standard shocks effect ride comfort, handling, etc. What sort of price am i looking at? |

i have standard shocks and i will admit the ride is rough but i spose that is normal for a lowered car .... worth the effort anyway!!

I have run standard shocks with my 3" lowered for years and only now are they stuffed.
Whiteline said get some use out of them as my car only had 5000km on it when they used it as the R&D car. They do bottom out but careful choice of roads and I can get where I want without problems eg never drive on parramatta road etc.

when i hit the kerb recently, i bent up my strut
only a little bit, but enough to throw the alignment... sooo i have to replace the strut... but it was the stock strut, and now has 170,000 km on it, so it could do with replacing anyway!!!!

My Astina still has the original struts in it.. I have been lowered for over a year now. I also have the Whiteline coils in my car and they're very good. Having said this I have a brand new set of Koni's sitting at home. I'll get them put in shortly.
The 2" lower on standard shocks [for the BA] isn't a bad ride at all. AP

i`ve got -35mm springs with standard shox and they`re ok.
ride comfort is pretty good i would say even with 4 up, but i dunno what the improvement would be like with uprated shox so i can`t comment on them! what i would say is if your standard shox are ok then your just as well using them until they wear out  |

once you have a look at the www.whiteline.com.au website, go have a look at the www.autospeed.com website, you'll find that it will be cheaper to get them from autospeed as they offer free shipping on orders over $200
Regards AP
