Question BJII motor running sick??

Hi All
Sons 2003 BJII Protege has just started playing up. Starts fine, seems to idle well but you drive it and sometimes the motor seems to drop power and start fluttering(possibly missing). How do they check for codes on these motors?(FP)
Runs real well other times. Where do you start???

Send a message via ICQ to JDM323
check the intake hose for cracks as that will cause those problems.

Thinking maybe the coils, they look original(200,000k's)........Where's the best place for getting new coils?
BTW Is there a scan tool for these motors?
