Changing Gearbox and Engine
I recently bought this car with a blown Gearbox with 240k on the clock
so i did some research and found a Engine n Gear box with 110k on the clock for about 450 - 500 $ and i found a mechanic that will do it for about 450-500 $ Labour P.s The mechanic has already check the Engine and Gearbox . clutch should be ok So is their any extras i need to look out for? eg oil and oil filter? |

The mechanic should include engine oil/filter/rad coolant although, don't simply assume you will get much else. Motor has low klms so, state you want a good oil used like a 15w-40 as this will give better results ie: performance/wear/economy.
Post install, they should pressurise the Radiator to test for leaky pipes/hoses etc so, this should give you peace-of-mind concerning cooling system! Advice - ask mechanic to change brake/clutch fluids (manual) & air cleaner filament. Also, ask them to check/replace any hoses, ie: radiator hoses, that may look suspect. Check condition of timing belt, this should be due so, again don't simply assume all has been done & is well! Better, assume nothing has been done unless it can be proved ie: paperwork/receipts provided. Hope this helps? Cheers!

i would change the clutch if you are swapping gearboxes. no good having to do this all over again when the clutch burns out in 50,000-100,000km.
if the car has done 240,XXXkm, then replacing all hoses and radiator fluif is a good idea. a new filter and oil would be good. then drop only the oil and replace with new in 1,000km. |
