Lakeside Raceway General Practice Day
Hey guys
there is a Lakeside Raceway general Practice Day on Friday 11th of November. $80 half Day or $120 for Full day. I am thinking of taking the SP20 out for a bit of fun. There are no restrictions as to race or road cars both are welcome. not a bad day for 120 bucks. plus 50 bucks fuel Anyone interested? Link to calendar---> http://www.queenslandraceway.com.au/main.php?menu=qri02 Cheers Matt |

Oh yeh, I can see me getting along to this. I should definitely have my track only rims and tyres by then. Is this being run by the same guy/business that does the street sprints, open sprints, trackattack, etc? If so, they owe me $80, so $40 for a full day of practice sounds sweet to me.
Actually, why not do the one on the 5th that's on a Saturday? Is it cheaper for the midweek sessions? Last edited by derb; 06-10-2011 at 04:16 PM. |

General Practice Days are always before a big 2 day event.
Midweek sessions yes are always cheaper. but these gen prac days are even cheaper again. this day is run by Queensland Raceways. trackattack etc is a 3rd party selling entry spots. they do not sell spots for special events like this. Also - for a beginner, the morning session is always good to hit, as the serious guys tend to hit the track in the arvo seesion for practice for the weekends races. Awesome. Don't suppose passengers are allowed to ride shotgun... I would love the chance at going round before going out in my own car. Happy to pay half of the cost...

Normal track day I've been to they allow passengers on at the end of the day at street speeds. Though this is a practice day. So might be different.
And when I say street speeds, the MX5s still did 150kph down the main straight. lol |

Just gave them a call in regards to this day and it's just rock up and pay and drive. I've booked my day off work, can't wait!

As I said before, if allowed, I'm happy to take some people on some happy laps. I do plan to go home somewhere in the middle of the day though and have some chow and a shower and come back. The people running the food/drink hut out there must be millionaires by now. $5 for a powerade!!

I called 1800RACERS and they told me there is no booking, just come to the track and pay in the bottom of the tower building. You'll only need a helmet and long pant/long sleeve cotton clothing, but I don't even think that is fully enforced. Last time I went I wore a pair of work pants and an old business shirt and the pants were poly-cotton. It's all self-scrutineerd, so just rock up and race really.

Where would be a good place to get helmets?

eBay for helmets? No one checks to make sure your helmet is ADR approved though. Just that you have it on your head.
