Burnout 3 - The Game
Oh My God....
I just saw the promo for this game, and all I can say is "This is sooo wrong". 1) wrongness number one. The idea of this game is to drive a fast car, and crash it into other cars making them crash. 2) wrongness number two. This is a quote from EA website "..Grow your boost bar by taking down your competitors—put them in a wall, into traffic, or pile them into the back of an 18 wheel semi truck." 3) and final wrongness. the end of the promo shows a pile up into 2 fuel trucks with a huge explosion. I don't often cringe at computer violence/destruction, but seeing how realistic these crashes look made me shudder. All you'd need now to look more real would be body parts flying out the wrecks. Ah man, I must be getting old. This is one car game where I hope there ISN'T an Astina in it.

are you crazy??? burnout is one of the best arcade style driving games series around... =P
better that u can do it in the game then do it in real life.. vent a lil fustration in the game then actually doing it on the road, real road rage. btw, the astina isn't in it, nor is any other car.. they r just generic cars that may look like real cars, but it's all made up in a fantasy games world.. so relax =) |

its not very realistic to play - not a simulation as such.
it feels very much like an arcade game and ( if like its predecessors ) is oriented towards racing rather than crashing. The crashes are what makes it that bit different from the hundreds of other car racing games . |

The crash mode in the game is absolutly awesome.
It is honestly one of the best games of the year.

burnout is an awesome game. full boost blasting head ons doing insane speeds on the wrong side of the highway. I hope this one still has the tunnel vision thing when you use the boost for speed like in 2. you go so fast, and you cant even see where you are going.

I've played the XBOX version and i thought the graphics were awesome.. made me want to fork over the $250 for the console and the $100 for the game right there.. I'm still thinking about it, it's just a pity they don't release it for PC. There are other games i wouldn't mind having a go at too.. Like the "Alias" game... *thinks about Jennifer Garner* hhmmmm...

imo: the alias game wasn't that good. but you might like it, who knows?
the xbox game was great with graphics, but also its multi point joysticks on the controllers really helped with car control (burnout 2 on xbox to ps2).

You wanna wait for Gran Turismo 4, now that will BE the game to talk about. Looks good so far. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is out at end of the month Oh yeah, sorry Burnout 3 is a nice little game, but a bit too arcadey for me

i'll admit its very arcadey. but its the insaneness that can only come from its arcadey origins that i love about the game. I like realistic racers, the challenge or taking down hard opponents on a difficult course, but i like to go on rediculous driving runs too. Burnout forefils the latter of these two, while the former is left for most other racing games (GT4, NFSU, McRR4, RBR2).

3 ways to win the race. 1) Dead boring, actually complete the race and come first 2) Smash your opponents until your the ownly one left 3) You can KILL (run over, maim, whatever) EVERY SINGLE Pedestrian ion the came, getting points and time bonuses, using toold like bouncy bouncy, jelly suspension, blind pedestrian, etc to make things much more entertaining and interesting. I have Burnout 2 on Xbox, it's not a bad game, and it does relieve frustrations when bad Sydney drivers try to drive up on my bonnet.

OK, this is how it is...
Fruitbat & Little Miss: u are both nuts. This game on xbox rocks!! No it is not realistic, but neither was Halo & shooting martians but both of these games were addictive. I have it on Xbox and (as I love car games) I find it very stimulating to smash into other cars & cause millions of dollars of carnage  All 3 in the series have been good, but IMHO, the 3rd installment tops with takedown mode. Graphics are very good to for a graphics chip that is over 2 .5 yrs old. Get out there & try it. Driver 3 ain't bad either - very much like Grand Theft Auto. My latest fetish is Leisure Suit Larry - Magna Cum Laude on xbox (remember this classic game?) |

I have been playing LSL and Burnout 3 almost exlusivly since i got both of them.
LSL is fun but it gets VERY repetetive. Its all the same mini games all the time. Burnout 3 is getting progressivly harder on race mode so it is keeping me interested.
