Forza 3 Review (hi-res)
Hey guys,
So I've had the pleasure of racing/drifting in Forza 3 since Monday, (what's that I can hear? How the hell?) thanks to my favourite game reseller here in Toowoomba advancing me a copy a week in advance. The game will be out today, and quite frankly - I know you guys can't live without it. Amazing - such an improvement on Forza 2. First thing you will notice, and you would have seen in the demo, (and if you are running a HD set-up) the graphics engine has had a major overhaul. It really is quite stunning - I'd go as far as to say best visually pleasing and sexy race simulation I've ever seen, next to real life! Something that lacked in Forza 2 was the intelligence of the racing AI. Not any more, the other racers are now so switched on, it feels like you're playing real people. The variance in each race is awesome, and they will actually make human errors (taking corners too quickly, etc). They will even fall victim to bullying! Example: you're in second place, if you keep tight on the rear of the guy in front, he'll speed up so you can't tap him, and once you reach that hairpin turn, watch as he forgets to even slow down and change gears. Then laugh as he limps away bellowing smoke in your rear view mirror! This for me has kept me laughing and enjoying this game on another level. Car modification is back, and in full swing. One thing that was annoying was you can't actually get specs on the engine you already have installed, so as to compare it to the one you are trying to upgrade to. Minor but this was an option in Forza 2. Apart from that modification is fun, and you can notice the smallest of change. Another awesome additive to this already great game, but some may disagree - a new feature called rewind. Bad corner? Smash into an opponent? No matter, hit the 'Back' button and you'll reverse in time to the last corner. Great if you on the last lap of 20 and you slide out and into the wall, crippling your car. Drifting! Yes! They have some awesome levels included specificity included levels for drifting, there's one touge track on the mountains of Japan, about 14km of pure sideways action, if you love to drift, you need this game. In fact if you love racing, you need this game! Forza 3 is priced at around $77 for just the game and $120 for special edition. Special Edition comes with 5 uniquely painted cars and a 2gig memory stick - not really worth the extra cash in my opinion. Finally I'll leave you with some eye candy of my favourite car, and current drift pig on my 55" LED (I love telling you guys!) - game box bottom right of screen. (not best of quality, used n95) Don't worry, it's pink cos it's my drift pig, and pigs are pink. You'll have to excuse the reflection of my backyard on the screen too! Cheers.

If it's $77 down my way, I wouldn't even have to wait for the hype to blow over before I could get it. Although I really should finish DiRT and GRiD before getting a new car game.

Haha win! My elite burnt out, fixed it - then I upgraded the rear fans with a Whisper Max Turbo, and a fan for each heatsink inside. Sounds like an aircraft idling - but if i can hear it, i haven't got the sound up loud enough! Screw you Microsoft check me out! 2 months after red ring, and much hammering, no more red ring.

Well unless you get one Tony... I'll just have to drift by myself. By the way, the photos - they show nothing, nothing at all compared to in real life!! haha
Turn 10 (makers of Forza 3) have really out done them selfs, it's a beautifully crafted game! Just feels so right to be playing it, and love to get the rear of the mx-5 out and sideways on corners. Have been playing this game for the last couple of days as well and is awesome. Also been playing GT on the PSP (which has the Lantis and the 323F but both are V6 models) but is very unpolished compared to FM3.

Don't forget though that the PSP Gran Turismo is not HD and will be no where near the PS3 release early next year. I'm looking forward to it, only 5 or so months to go [damnit!]

So I kinda bit the bullet and downloaded the demo (1.4gb), and all I can say is WOW!
You only have 1 track and a couple cars to choose from, but damn the graphics are 10x better then FM2. its funny to watch the other drivers run off as steve said when they arent concentrating, and destruction derby mode(give up and wait for the other players to come back to where you are and play car derby) is great One thing they should have down was thrown in a couple aussie cars into the lineup, something different other then the V8 supercars...

I played the demo in the evo and i was amazed at how realistic the game actually was, i then played the demo of Need for speed shift and it felt like a was playing the same game just a dulled down low end graphical based verion of Forza 3.
Forza 3 even on a pc screen connected via vga has superb quality and is as close as lifelike in a game i have ever seen its a buy guaranteed |
