Brake Pad Advice

I went to Autobarn on the weekend to take advantage of their 20% off sale to buy some brake pads for my BA. Apparently there are two different front calipers for the BA Astina's, one of which bendix describes as a 'sumitomo caliper' which uses different pads to the standard ones. Needless to say I walked out of there confused and annoyed. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Basically I want to know whather to use the 1287 model or 1177 model brake pads.

Cheers.

im not to sure, if you have a local mazda dealer you can go ask them and get a free quote, and probably save heaps by buying them from autobarn with 20% off =]
otherwise, im pretty much as lost as you.
just to add, incase anyone knows, is there a way to prevent squeeking from my breaks? after a long drive when the car is hot, on a hot day, they squeek like a 1,000,000 mice being run over by a semi truck!

1287 = V6
1177 = I4

1291 = rears are the same for both V6 and I4

squeeky brake, have them machined... or if the rears are 160,000km+ old, then you'll need new ones.

machine the disks. or replace if old there is a wear limit and they cant machin past this limit too unsafe
for the pads like ryan said the pads correspond to the different type of breaks as V6 has a bigger disk break upfront and therefore a bigger pad

check the thickness of the pads. If the wear indicator is close ( a little metal tab that sticks out down the side of the pad ) you may as well replace the pads.
