gear stick re attatch?

today i was driving and my gear stick just dropped down like 100 mm,when i stopped n checked it out the bottom of the gear stick had fallen through onto the exhaust pipe.the car stays in watever gear i have it in,but i have to pull it bak up to change.(lucky the exh. was directly under the stick otherwise it would have been on the road) has this ever happened to anyone else?if so how would i got about reattatching it?

There's meant to be a bolt that goes through everything to hold it in place. Make sure that you're bushings are still in the bottom of the gear stick, lift the gear stick up and slot a bolt through everything underneath and chuck a bolt on the end. Not sure what size bolt it's meant to be..

Hehe, that's not how you attached documents, you need that on a webspace via http or ftp first. But Nate has had the same problem with his, he should know what the deal is.

I think I saw you on Friday night about 6:30 from Wembley Road into Kingston Road too...

hehehe!! yeh.. my bro [sehnkhan] had that happen to his laser wagon.. although it was me who did it, i pushed too hard on the lever when putting on a new shift knob.. It just when smack down through the floor.. it was a pisser!

It's most likely just a circlip that has fallen off through repeated wear and tear..

got her fixed....couldnt reattatch, had to buy whole bit,it cant be broken in any one bit of the whole piece otherwise it needs to be replaced.so i picked one up from the wrecker for about $140.still better than like $500 from mazda, but yeah its the stick, right down to the rod that goes under up to the engine.neways they are only held in place buy two bits of rubber at the bottm of the gear stick, pretty **** house.maybe later down the track ill reinforce it somehow.
