?? hmmm
Im taking about the old BP engine used in the 323f BG (SP) GT, into a 323f BA 1.8, remove the 120bhp BA BP and stick a SP 1.8 140bhp engine.

The SP only came with the 120hp (~93kw?) BP.

The UK BG no cat version of the BP had more power than the cat equipped BG BP, which has a few more KW than the BA BP. i think.
I doubt anyone here's done it, as there'd be no real point unless your original BA BP is stuffed - and sourcing one would be a lot harder.

I have heard some rumours of a j-spec ecu from the astina sp that increases power to ~98kws?

So do you have a CAT on your SP (GT'S) ? Im guessing so? that sucks
I ask the question as a guy here in the UK is trying such a project, though hes going from a 1.5 Z5 engine to the SP (GT) 1.8 BP engine. got issues with drive shafts and hubs. But I dont think you guys got the 1.5 BA over in Aus?? Thanks for the replys though, the J spec ECU's is interesting! Are you saying the BA BP J epec ECU is better than the E spec? Ben

they probably are, but couldn't confirm it as have never had a euro ecu to play with.
even better again - getting a aftermarket ecu will produce more power again over the jap ecu. another idea to think about. jap ecu vs. oz ecu (S3, AUG97+) jap has 7 kW more (don't feel it in 9 year old engine) jap has more torque at 3300-4800rpm jap has better fuel economy (dunno why as is producing more power) jap idles better (alot!) ryan |

My NZ new Astina GT (BG) has a different ECU, Wiring loom...and intake Cam
doesnt have the CAT, its also ment to have 105kw/145hp , it sure had power in N/a form...as i could just out run vtir civic's and they have 116kw in stock trim My jap spec astina (eunos 100) has same ecu as every other jdm 1.8 bp ive seen. UK market must be the same as the NZ market for Specs
