ABS and suspension.
While pulling into a servo yesterday (to get the first sub $1 petrol in months 99.9) there was a que of cars so I needed to brake a bit not hard not partically sudden or anything (probably harder than normal but not a lot more). And yeah as I was doing so the ABS kicked in, Didn’t skid the wheels just that feel on your foot.
ABS has kicked in before when I thought not really needed, but this time so unneeded me thinks something might be amiss. Any ideas? It was right as I was going over the driveway gutter thing, only thing I can think of that could of caused it, So yeah any theorys out there? Actually on further consideration I think almost everytime it has gone on was when I was going some bumps etc, not huge bumps but just lumps and divots. Could this be a suspension Problem causeing the ABS to kick in when it should not. 96 V6 HT with 96 on the clock. |

Probably the sudden dip and raise through the gutter while decelerating causes the ABS to flutter. It's probably no biggie.

if the abs on the newer models is anything like the BG ABS system, it has G-sensors which a made up of 3 mercury switches, when u go up a ramp like that u may have trigered one of the switches which could cause the ABS to kick in when braking
(sorry for digging this up, just thaught people might want to know why it happens)

I think its more of a case of the sensors getting a bit confused.
I have come across this before as well. Not in a Laser/Astina though. So yeah pretty much normal Rob
