Talking Dan's SP20 Worklog

After years of saving I finally bought my first car. I got it in July '09 and have been very happy with it so far. It is a December '02 SP20 Protege in Sunlight Silver.
My aim with this car is to personalize it and make it something a little bit different. I want to keep it as clean and sporty as possible.
I've had great fun going through the hills in this car and it's always great when my friend's cars and their big engines can't even keep up with me.

Hey Daniel,

Good to see another SP20 among the ranks There have been quite a few that have joined up recently.

Love the rims the silver on silver is looks really good! Although lowering the car would improve it even more. Not sure about the black grill.

Interesting fabric on the seats. Did it come like that stock with the car?

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments guys,
Yeah gotta do a few things to it. The dealer I bought it off did a cheap job of painting the front and rear bumper without sealing it with clear. It now has almost no shine and needs repairing so the front will be redone properly.

Gonna paint the grille so it is silver with black mesh when the bumper gets painted, although it looks alright in person, just can't be seen much in the pics.

Definitely going to lower the car after that.

The pic of the interior has some cheap seat covers dad had on it. They've since been replaced with some that suit the rest of the interior.

Are those taped on eyelids? I also noticed you taped over the gap left by the AutoEXE grill along the radiator support panel. If you remove that black tape, you will get ram air into your stock airbox above 80kph! Which is a really good thing.

I think the black grill on the silver car is OK.

Yeah the eyelids were suppose to be a temporary thing, was going to get them painted. Only a few people have ever noticed it so I haven't really bothered getting it done properly.

The black tape is purely to cover the silver paint as it could be seen from certain angles outside the car, it doesn't block any airflow as it is taped directly onto the radiator support panel.

Ahhh, so it's just on the front of the rail, not bridging the rail to the grill. Good stuff.

What exhaust have you got? The tip looks upgraded at least. The Perry axle-back is about the best you can get for the money. Lots of happy campers here with the Perry.

your front and rear bars are probly just painted in acrylic. (the reason they are not shiny)

Only got the stock exhaust system now with a tip Dad found attached to the end. This Perry axle-back what sort of sound does it produce and what price am I looking at? After a nice deep tone like subies and not too concerned performance wise.

The Perry gives everything you just asked for, plus some performance for ~$200.
