1.6 BG SOHC to DOHC

First off I'm not sure if this should be in performance and maintenance forum or here but it's kind of a conversion.
Anyway I have a 1992 carbed 323f and I've got a warped cylinder head, it still runs but it's taking in water in cylinder 3 and 4 and a whole load of steam is coming out the exhaust.
I could get the head skimmed but my mate has a scrapped mx-5 1.6 lying around. From what I've read, the bore and stroke are the same, as is the capacity and the compression ratios are very similar, 9.2: and 9.4:1
What i want to know is, is my block the same as the block from the 1600 mx5? and can i use my existing intake and exhaust manifolds with the DOHC head? I don't want to be messing around with injectors, ecu's and fuel pumps.
I don't want to hear about complete engine swaps either. No can do because of insurance and I've no hoist or the patience for it.
Oh and most important has anyone here done this before?
