Hey from Ballarat, Vic
Hey,
I'm 17 and my uncle gave me his Mazda 323 Bg Astina when he bought a new car and i have a year to get the car to at least stock condition for when i get my p's. I've fitted a new Clarion stereo system, changed all the filters and gave it a much needed cleaning. The body work is in bad condition were the car ahas been hit, scraped off some paint and left to rust. I intend to sand back all these areas prime it then respray the car. It is fairly mechcaniclly sound except for some unburned petrol which is leaking out of the exhaust pipe. Also there is another proplem with what i think is called engine hesitation (put my foot down on the pedal goes then it hovers at a fairly specific level before releasing all those revs) Besides that the clutch plate was replaced recently and the eletrics are fine. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pi...1&id=736287364 |

Hi Mick and welcome to AGT.
I remember when I was your age I got the hell out of Ballarat but I'll probably be visiting next weekend to see family.

The problem is that the engine is hesitating, i put my foot to the floor and it stays at a certain amount of revs for one,two seconds then release it all at once. Hard to explain.

welcome fellow Vic
when you say electrics are fine. Do you mean spark? How do you know this? If it is bogging down (flat spot) it is most likely electrically related. Plugs/Leads/Coil/Dizzy. Or it could be fuel. Fuel pump/Injectors? You'll have to trouble shoot starting with easy, cheaper parts. My badvice would be to take it to workshop & have them diagnose fault

Welcome! I reckon I've seen this car driving around before. Hope everything works out alright with the engine. You might like to go into Repco in Wendouree and ask for a bloke by the name of Jeremy. He has a BG Astina also and is very good with knowledge of that engine. He's also on this forum under the username 'Dutchy'.
