Not scan gauge a full blown scan tool like launch. We use VAS here in the workshop and I'm getting the aftermarket VAGcom next week. I should of said diagnostics program for my laptop. I'll be getting a OBDII connector soon.

you can get eBay ones that plug into your laptop for about $30 or so
Then just download some software to monitor/read it

Or some are able to be bluetooth'd to your fone for real time footage (which also records as well..) I looked into it a couple months ago, but if ya got one already, why bother?

if you want to spend some money go and get a kiwi wifi from plx and download rev (this is all asuming you have a iphone)
it gives you all the readouts on the screen through wifi conectivity as well as the ability to read and clear you codes
the app has a gps tracker as well that tracks your lap times and links them to the g-force maps all at 5Hz through the obd2
this is over $200 but for a little more you can get one with a imfd adapter to road a whole bunch of sensors from other modules you can buy like real time oil pressure, fuel pressure, intake and exhaust temp, water and oil temperatures, wideband o2 sensor, boost and so on its pretty fukcing kewl as it works at 10Hz or so regardless of how many things you are monitoring simultaneously im thinking of getting it actually (hence the writeup i just read about it a few days ago )

oh yeah works with android as well

The same amount for a Scangauge

I think its bascially up to the user how much they want to get out of the device itself. Torque App on the Android Market seems to be the best on the market for Android Phones & only $5 + the cost of the Bluetooth OBD unit:

70NYD, I don't think the car sends data at 5Hz, i've got it plugged into a computer and the device can handle 30 or something, but I only get about 1-2 refresh per second The car might be the limiter.
Obviously GPS could be real time though

Through obd2 the total refresh rate is about 5hz.. If you have 2 metrics up then The rate is about 2.5 hz for each. However what I was refering to connecting to other instruments, their refresh rates are around 10hz regardless of how many things are running. That's all according to the info I found
