I've spoken with an importer about getting one in from Japan (they are cheap over there). Unfortunatly the Rules in Victoria only make it viable if you live in Japan and own the car for 12 months (Unless it is a model that wasn't sold over here). Then modifications so it meets ADRs, tariffs and taxes.
The rules change too frequently for a novice to keep up with.

rod, you could get a mate another state (provided you have one) to buy it, and then buy it off him.

If I wasn't so suspicious of the car and it's owner i'd borrow some cash and buy it myself. The profit would be worth it, no?

oh wait, it's a left hand drive. bugger.

Still be good for wrecking or racing. Different import laws apply.
