Smile HOW TO: Installing BA Altezza taillights

Hello,

I was just trying to fit my black lexus lights to my car... but the thingie holding the bulb that you plug into the light is too big, there is no room for it in the new lights?? That must be a common problem?

Hey there,

You gotta trim the plastic on the indicator loom about 5 to 10mm. Make sure you dont cut the wire

Yeah, I read the thread where it was discussed afterwards (was a very long thread.. hehe)

Already started cutting in it, will finish it tomorrow when the sun is back, thanks for the inputs.

doing it tha way allows water in, thats what the boyz in germany and austria say..

your blubs will rust within 6 months if the car is regularly in rain..

Mick or Daniel [Pato?], did you take pics when installing your lights? If so, send them with a write up on how it's done and i'll whack it in a pretty PDF for people to print off..

Who else has ordered them? I know that Mal has a set on order, so even if you can do a write up with pics that would be great..

Cheers
Adam

Smile what to trim to fit the lexus style tail lights

here is a picture of what and where to trim....note the left one is trimmed down. after you cut it, seal the end with some silicone. you might have to check it as you cut it as you might not cut enough of first....shane

Aight, I finished mounting them, the way I did it I don't think water will be a problem, what I did was I removed the top layer of the grey plastic (shown on the pic in the above post), I kept the black rubber part which holds out the water... If you take out the bulb you can press the black rubber part out and then I used my dremel to cut away the top, this makes almost a perfect fit and you still keep it dry. I do NOT like the idea of bending metal to fit an aftermarket taillight. If you use a Dremel instead of a knife, it looks factory made and you don't have to worry about your fingers. But be carefull with the wires.. Maybe some isolation band (tape) will help from cuts.. but just stay away from it!!

i've got 4 of the twin-pole LED lights if you want them. they're quite bright. you'd notice a difference - thy give a much 'rounder' light. PM me if you're interested
