Head unit resetting when turned off

Hey guys, just wondering whether you would be able to help me diagnose a problem? Everytime i turn my car off, my head unit resets. By resets, i mean if i tune the radio's frequencys and save the stations, or change the bass levels or any user setting, when i turn it off, it goes back to stock settings. Do you think its how i wired it? I just read the user manual, cant see anything along these lines in the problems/answers section. Cheers, Matt

so would that be the 'battery wire'? when i take the head unit out, would it be an idea to swap the battery and ingition wires from the head unit with the opposite coming from the dash? seeing as tho those 2 connected make power...?

your battery power is the one that POWERS the unit and the speakers and provides minimum power to the HU to keep the memory alive when car is off. you ignition power is only a trip wire that turns the HU on when u turn the car on..
if your running your HU from your accesories im suprised it hasnt caused any fuses to go yet

check it with a multimeter. The battery wire should read constant approx 12v at all times. The ignition ( aka accessories ) wire should be dead with the car off and approx 12v when the key is in the accessories or On position.

Check out the stickies in the audio section for detailed wiring information

id love $55 per hour for an auto electrician. my car wouldnt start and they had to test normal battery, starter motor and alternator, none of it, they said it was a 'main engine fuse'. took 5 days to get car back to me, $9 fuse, $88 per hour labour, a total of $97. needless to say, i wont be putting my car in there again.

I only went to a auto sparky once when the wire for the central locking broke off from old age (it was a dodgy job by the previus owner) and there wasn't enough wire to make a new conection n I don't have a solder so yeah 60 later it's all working fine
