I gotta get down to Uni tomorrow looks like I'm staying home! Lol

EDIT: To be a pain I should ask them to do the front sway bar bushes while they've got the motor out lol
uhh, you don't need to take the engine out or the head off the block to change the timing belt and seals

your mechanic is taking you for a ride!

(i.e highly efficient).

downsides to a laptop is addition of multiple drives etc, internal cards, worse upgrade potential (limited by cooling).

this leaves me with the issue of sound. You cannot really use the line out on the computer. it is too noisy apparently. I purchased one of these:

http://highresolutiontechnologies.co...eamer-ii#prods

I am VERY impressed with the quality of sound while outside the car, ease of use (you litereally plug the USB in and it automatically sets up in under a second)

That microphone looks good. The lilliputs are ok, but not awesome. harder to read in sunlight than others, like xenarc. This is an awesome value screen though: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/110923590...84.m1423.l2649

check out his store for the older HDMI version. wait a week and the newer one (smaller) will have HDMI too.

also for GPS, software is still undecided, but i will be buying a 10hz chip for $50 and making my own controller via a arduino.
hope this isnt stuffing up your plans, just trying to help

if you want any more info, bring it up in the car pc topic we have
it'll be even faster if you installed Windows Embedded 7 and install it using EFI mode on a GPT hard drive partition

Windows Embedded 7 is free if you're a student
Windows Thin PC also works but no one can get it but MS software assurance customers (corporations)

i wonder if there is any differences other than the cams and buckets we know about?

I misunderstood - the car was on the hoist and the rocker cover was off. Got it back today, will update tomorrow at a computer because chrome for android is driving me nuts.

EDIT - Got it back today, they did the following:
  • Replaced water pump, was pissing out coolant apparently
  • Replaced rocker cover gasket, old and hard and leaking oil
  • Replaced timing belt - was so worn that it was melting onto one of the pulleys!
  • Replaced alternator belt
  • Checked to see if my Whiteline rear sway bar fits but apparently I need new droplinks for it. They were sceptical about it fitting which I don't understand...
  • Replaced motor oil/gearbox oil/coolant
  • Replaced rear parker/brake bulb
  • Sent my alignment out - wheel shakes quite badly at 100km/h+ now. Doubt they will fix it as they don't have the gear for alignment so I'll have to live with it until I get the suspension done...

Also went and got it washed after I got back from Uni and took some pics. I'll upload tomorrow

Surprized they didn't replace the ac + ps belt at the same time. Must have been replaced recently. But for $12 and no extra labour, I would've done it.

Don't need new endlinks to fit the whiteline sway bar. Either the bar is not the correct one, or they have attempted to install it upsidedown, which makes it sit at weird angles. But it doens't take a mechanic to figure that one out.

Sounds more like balance than alignment issues. But if you don't know when the last time it have an alignment, then it's time to do both.

Try taking off you rims and reseating them. Sometimes rims don't sit perfectly and cause unwanted vibration.

i'm guessing small buckle or out of balance. sounds like the car hasn't been serviced in 2 years.

The alignment/balance was spot on before I took it in, they managed to bugger it up!

I think they might have changed the PS belt at the same time but I don't seem to recall them mentioning it. I'll ask 'em on Monday when I go in to pay them.

As for the sway bar, it came from phly's BA hatch so it is definately the right one.

i dont see what the problem is then. if it fits one car with stock links, then it should fit yours no problems.

sounds like you might need to do some research and find a new mechanic.

if you look on your invoice, all the part replaced should be listed.

isnt the belt kit you buy for the BA a belt kit, with all the belts needed + a new tensioner pulley?
also reseat the rims as mentioned. it shouldnt shake. and definately dont leave it as if they ****ed the alignemnt up, then you will just chew throu your tires for no reason or benifit (esp if driving on the freeway)

Removed my HIDs from my car today as they aren't legal (I don't have projectors), so I reinstalled my halogens

It seems the longer I have the car the higher I'm aiming. 400whp is looking fun

Yesterday- Jared and I (well, Jared) put the ze into my car. Came across a little bit of a problem in the end- the intake manifold had a crack all the way along it.. I'm gonna have to find another one when I go back to NZ next week.
Big thanks to Jared for doing all the work!
Today- put the stock exhaust back on- the perry was getting a little too loud for me.. It's nice to be able to hear again!
