no such thing as a GH 626... that's a 2nd generation Mazda6!
last 626 was the GF/GW

Update on all this process... Actually hit up athol park ford wreckers, after a ton load of ringing around, and visiting a number of places, and grabbed the intermediate shaft...
dont call it a layshaft, thats in the gearbox.
here i am ringing all these places, some knew what i was talking about, but these guys were sticklers for the correct terms!(a good thing in the end) but all sorted! bought a spare gearbox as well, so that made it a spare box fro my spare gearbox.

aaaand... with the assistance of Sprints Hectorville, and OG driveshafts, got the shafts made up to EXACT specifications for the car, which i am super happy with.

NOT aftermarket driveshafts, but mazda ones... so more pricey, but correct length(aftermarket ones can have too much of a tolerance for length) and GE inner joints. lines up and fitted in beautifully.

am i correct in saying these boxes have and lsd in them, or am i miss informed?
or is it they can have an lsd option put into these gearboxes?

thanks for all the input guys, hope i will be able to assist when i get some more infor written up, as the car now drives.

LSD was optional on some GEs... you will only know by:
open up the gearbox to look
or hope the white sticker on the box has not peeled off and is still legible
or dump the clutch, hope nothing breaks and the car lays two black strips of rubber on the road

Unless it's a Lynx box, it won't be LSD.

Welcome to the Lynx LSD club

It was optional in the "Lynx" as well - which means a 1.8 Lynx (they did 1.5 and 1.6 in other markets through Asia as well) is not guaranteed to have one, but Ford Australia specced them with it, so an Australian market Lynx is pretty much the only "pretty damn sure" to have the LSD.

I used to have the part number written down somewhere, checked it with Mazda, still available but about $5800 or so.

It's a great hidden bonus of the Lynx, even if the driveshafts are a pain in the backside to have sorted.

driveshafts only cost 440 for the pair. thort it was pretty reasonable for complete brand new ****, and drop it.
im impressed with it so far. pretty sure the box can take lightweight shockproof redline oil.
good thing i got another lynx gearbox spare!
neva thort the lsd would be that pricey! seems like a whole gearbox price!

redline doesn't recommend shockproof oil in synchronised transmissions

That would be heavyweight though wouldn't it? How different are these boxes to the ones prior? The dohc or if the laser/astina.
Had lightweight in that and was great.
