The drain plug should be at the lowest point of the gear box, either on the bottom of the gearbox or just on one side. All the cars I have worked on it has been like 22mm or bigger. Rupewrecht should be able to help you out.

I think it's whatever the wheel brace is!

Both nuts are on the narrower end of the box. Once faces the radiator, the other in much the same position underneath. They're the only 2 bolts that big.

Can some please tell me whether Ive located the drain plug and fill plug?

Is that the drain plug, that big o thing on the bottom left?

And is that the fill plug where ive got a green hose stuck into it? and whats that just below it with 2 wires connecting to it?

I've tried sticking my finger into the fill plug to see if i can feel the level but couldnt so tried to put more oil and once start pouring a little, the fill hole starts to overflow! so didnt end up adding any oil. I want to drain the gearbox and put new oil in but how many litres do i need to fill it back up? And whats the best way to fill the gearbox? i had a hose thru engine bay down under car and into the hole. Please help!

Ray

the big bolt in number 1 is the drain hole -

the wires, are neutral sensors or reverse?

and the hose is in the right hole - when it overflows its full

check your user manual that came with the car, but it should probably be a litre + a bit..

2.75 litres or thereabouts is the capacity of the box.

And it's something done about every 50-100,00kms so it isn't a common thing to have to do

I certainly wouldn't drive it with only 1 litre in there!

2 at the very least.

it take almost 3.5l to overflow. it is too much becasue if i not mistaken should be around 2.7l.

Can someone confirm if the bolts on a BA are 22mm or 23mm? My wheel brace is very small so i'm not sure where that idea came from.

I think I used a 1" socket on my drain plug. The fill was probably smaller.

Why not go out and check ?

Well problem is that my socket set only goes up to 21mm which is the spark plug socket so i have to go out and buy one just to do the oil change and i want to get it right so i dont get the wrong size.
