Question fold out screen decision help..

hey everyone
im looking to buy a fold out screen for my car, after looking around im unsure what to do...
has anyone heard about the ebay ones?
there are somegood looking ones on there, but i dunno about quality?
i dont wanna spend heaps on somethin that is there mainly for a wank factor... it wouls=d have no real use just for shows. so i dont wanna pay like 800 dollars for one.
any one have any help/advice?
i dont wanna be stingy and end up ripped off, so if they are cheap and nasty let me know and i wil just put the money into better things.
thanks for any help.

You said you had a JVC headunit, stick with JVC and get a matching screen...

so you dont really wanna use one you just want it there for the wank factor? just buy one on ebay then...spend $300-$400 on there...you wont need a touch screen one...and its only for wank anyway i dont see the point in it really if your not gonna use it but ohh well

mate if its for wank factor at shows i'd fix other parts of the car up first. look at your priorities, you need to get into a show first, which means a good looking car first and a stereo second. also, you have to realise that other people at car shows will judge you and your car on brands as much as quality and finish. buy a cheap unit and people that notice it will transfer that opinion to the overall car.

if you want a cheap unit drop into dick smith or wait till one comes on sale, don't risk spending $$$ on **** from ebay that you haven't gotten any first hand opinions on

Frankly, I think the novelty of a screen at car shows wore off about 6 years ago.

These days they're dime-a-dozen - there just isn't that "wow, check it out he has a 7inch screen in there" response from people anymore.

If you want to go into shows - I'd suggest doing something unique and interesting with the car. Something that you don't see every day.

Give it a theme and follow it through the entire car - interior, exterior, engine and stereo.

in that case...black rims with a chrome lip...paint he car a pearl black...dump it...dark tinted windows...leather interior...and really expnsive equipment in the car like the GPS and touch screen (non fold out type)[all built into one] well folds out just to pu thte cd in...

but in sayin that i doubt youll get an astina or laser looking like a VIP style car...

It would be kind of hard to pull off the VIP look on a hatch, as most VIP cars are big luxury models and have V8's for guts, something a laser/323 isnt on both accounts...

remember, when you enter a show like autosalon, they are looking for whats done in the exterior/bodywork, interior, audio-visual, engine work and most of all attention to detail...

I'm guessing by VIP you mean the DUB style black slammed mercs with big chrome rims etc. somehow i don't see a laser pulling it off. you could easily go a weekend street racer type look but i just dont see VIP going with a laser

yeah i was thinking respray in black/ dark grey,
black leather retrim
slammed (airbags?)

but now after gettin my new rims, it wont work coz the rims are more racey/ smooth styled. not chrome/black...
so i think i needa reassess what im gonna try to create..
but a screen would be good still...
i might just have to get the jvc one...
oh, one other thing, does anyone have a pic of how they wired two things into the acc cable/ a power cable?

try to not tap into that wire so much. a proper cable from the battery is much more suitable and will allow you to run an amp etc. otherwise just strip back the insulation on the wire and solder or use a tap you can get from supercheap
