The last S7 rx-7 was the most epxensive behidn the RX-7 SP with Cosmo 20B tubro option it was over 100,000 in 1995.
But I remember 800's starting at 68,000 then going up remember were up to 3 version at one stage a 2.5L V6 - rare as now, 800M with 2.3L Miller and your 800M SP, again this would of been up a bit.

just did a check RX-7 SP 101,000 excluding the 20B turbo option ? only a few were option like this.
mellina was 72500 last of in 02
last 929 in 97 I thought was 80,000 but was 79,300 retail
and 800m 85165

but then again my current astina V6 auto was 40,000 new that was over priced easily I mean I would of rathered the better built old modle 626 station wagon for $12,000 cheaper. more function moved better and felt better.

Now that's something I never heard about... I though there was the RX7-SP and then the lightweight model which also ran more boost etc....

The SP was the lighter weight model had carbon fibre bonnet and few select carbon fibre parts. it's why it was so expensive and still is worth alot more then any of the others. But it's really not as good as a S8. the last S8 had best rear wing best intercooler setup along with best tiwin turbo setup - 2nd only to the 20B cosmo setup only as the cosmo setup did not run sequential
but I think from memory the funny ecu they fitted to the Sp's allowed it to used basicly for raceing only.

As for them 800M's and Mellina's the last are a bit of $20k but I've seen cheapers. I had oportunities to buy both SP 800M and 800M stock as undamaged for under $10K in fact found one for $6K average k's.

they are like 929's now drop like stone.
but it's no difference to say a 523I of say 95 model easily pick them up now cheap as well. The more you pay the more you loose.
No car is an investment and if it becomes one it's hard to pick.
Mx-5 Sp - a little but it still drops
WRX STI 2 door demanded but still I've seen easy under 40K it's only a WRX

Brock VK SS group A - yeah gone up but it must be stock to claim a real up in price.
first porsche 911 turbo's -yep gone up
add in a few aussie classics
GTS 350 HQ 2 door
GT HO Phase 123 or rare as 4
they only gone up where the demand has been. They might have been $8K new but todays money says it's more but only over an equivlant base model.

Mx-5 has to be biggest holder of value in the mazda branch
Name any other model from 1989 other then the RX-7 turbo's that can still be holding 10K.

The 95 Eunos 800M was $83k new. Its great for tax purposes cause you just claim a percentage of the new car value...

Problem with the Eunos is its extremely hard to find parts and they so damn expensive when you do. It has the most amazing engine though, so much torque because of the super charger it is very enjoyable to drive. I wish I could get more top end out of it. I haven't toucht the CAI or Exhaust yet which is next.

If they had made this car a RWD it would have so much more potential.

the main problem I fidn the 2.3L Miller is not so much it's FWd but you only have a option of a auto with it. the ECU runs the lot miller cycle part enigne and ATX.

so you could drop the lot say into a BA and it would be easily done but! you would have to use the auto ecu etc.

now you could drop in a KL-ZE similar HP rating and I don't think you would find an overall difference in performance as you could run a Manual with the KL.

If you simply turn the 2.3L into SC motor with a aftermarket ECU and ran it like that. With nice box in side say a Gemini or somethin small light RWD. be interesting. but it's the miller cycle bit that makes it so good. so smooth and so torquey

its funny how cars that were like 83k a few years ago are like found for 10k 10 years down the track. but crappy cars that were like only 35 - 45k new 10 years ago in other brands are still 10k.. not refering to honda as crappy but even 92 newshape preludes r hard to get under 10 with good k's

well it's quite simple really

people who buy 2nd hand dont' but cars you can't fix

take the HD 929 anyone who knows will tell oyu great car until the window regulator goes and spares are as rare as and not worth the cost so you do new and it's $1200 from mazda front right hand drivers door - Most common.

Now this goes the same for things like BMW's even the great 3 series price of parts kills. Mercedes rear door for a M-class 4Wd $3000 only from mercedes not painted no extras just bare door.

it is cheaper to maintain and run a mid 90's to late 90's holden which is why car dealers buy them for a few and sell for double as it only cost them 1/8 of the profit price to fix.
