How often should I get my 2002 model sp20 serviced?

How often should it be done? What do most people do?

I have been told every 10,000km although mechanics always write on the sticker every 5000km.... And does time come into it or just kilometres?

Cheers

Depends how you drive it, I use mine for a lot of short trips so I do it every 5,000 and the oil really needs a change by then. You could probably get away with a year between services, depends how many kms you do

Use better oil

I service every 10,000 but I reckon I could stretch it to double that easy because I'm running quality oil and an oversize filter.

under 130,000km = 10,000km
over 130,000km = 5,000/7,500km

I use Castrol Magnatec which I thought was pretty good... Still came out quite dark after 5,000 though

i do every 5000k my car has done 180,000. i figure its cheap insurance. i also use a Z411 filter instead of a Z436 as it is a bit larger.

my old BG i had before my BA had the oil changed every 5000 as well and had done 250,000 with no issues.

the motor was pulled out due to VICS in July 07 @ 132,096kms (yes I know the exact number )

It uses a little bit of oil, but considering its done another 75,000 since rebuild its doing ok All things like water pump, timing belt were done at rebuild, so im good for another 30,000kms.

Im still using Castrol GTX3 5.5 years on

I wasn't in the supposed build dates of the VICS recall. Fingers crossed. Just done 130 and a little rattly while it warms up but otherwise flawless.
