Custom grill for SP20.

So this idea was running through my head allllllllll weekend and need some help and advice.

Does anyone in Sydney have a top grill for sp20 they have spare!?

I was thinking of removing the original mesh. Than fabricating a metal frame out of rods than moulding a custom mesh to suit. I havnt really looked at my own to see how it's all supportedbut advice would be cool.

Hmmmm, great minds think alike

I am going down a slightly different path but I can give you some guidance and advice along the way.

The top grill is attached to the radiator support (two clips), and to bumper at the top (two bolts) and bottom (three clips).

In my mind, this should be plenty of support for the frame of the grill without needing the original mesh - I don't think that you will need any additional support bars

Of course if that doesn't work, then you could always add the extra support later

I was thinking of extending it out at the bottom to sit flush with the bottom edge. Or maybe even the whole thing sitting flush. Than attaching the familia badge I just ordered off Dan :P

Well thats a whole different kettle of fish

Perhaps you could use the stock grill as a base providing support to the bumper and then graft a fibreglass grill onto it to bring it flush with the bumper.

Just a thought

Thinking about it I've changed my mind. I may do a total custom fabrication. First it'll be fun and 2nd I need tig welding experience :P

I want to use mesh like this

(disregard the background 2nd mesh)

Maybe moulding that to round bar. Spayed a matte black and adding the familia sprayed yellow.

What you think??

I think something that comes out further at the bottom to sit flush with the bumper would be very cool.

Not sure why you are looking to make this out of metal

Plastic or fibreglass should be sufficient.
