Is modding your dash good?

Hi,

My BG's slowly breaking down  The dash lights sometimes don't work until I give it a good thump.

I was thinking about replacing the dim LED's (are they LED's?) behind the dash to another colour...say blue or red. From the honda forums they seemed to do this easy.

My question is.. When you're selling the car, would people be suspicious that you might have tampered with your odometer if your dash has mods?

thanks

Hmmm, last car I did it on, I actually told them before they had a chance to ask...

"'You'll notice that I've changed the dash a bit - I did that when I got it XX years ago. It was realy just an excuse to take the dash off so I could check that the odometer hadn't been tampered with, which it hadn't"

It worked two, them seemed impressed that I had been so through when I had first brought it (as they would have had no idea how to get the dash off, yet along thought about checking the odometer!

I know that with the BG cluster that I bought off Jynx you can take the little bulbs out, but they're not LED's unfortunately.. They're little globes. The bulbs that emit the green glow actually have a green sheath over the globe.. no doubt you'd be able to change the colour of the sheath.

on the BA the green shading is on the back of the dials, hence why you can't change the color

and using LEDs will create hotspots of light which'll look a bit crap

awhile ago me and my dad removed the entire instrument cluster from the dash
the speedo wire was making noise so we put heaps of grease in it
and it solved the prblem
but its a lot of work to get rid of a rattle noise!

There is special wide view angle LED's installed in my BG dash. I did put in an extra led somewhere, not sure now though.

Only thing i got against it is that its a little hard to see the needles....but i still have a trick up my sleeve for that.

Sometimes we just need to remember what the rules of life really are:
You only need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape
If it doesn't move and should, use WD-40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use Duct Tape.
