fitting cannon muffler?

hey guys,

just spent $180 on a drift cannon from autobarn and took my 94 ba astina down to a performance exhaust garage

and was told it was just impossible to fit without it pointing directly out the side. im pretty flexible as to how it goes on and i dont mind spending the money to do it, i like the angled look like you see on some wrxs but wasnt happy with it pointing directly sideways.

anyways just want to know if it is possible to fit or if anyone has a BA with a cannon, here is the dimesions of the muffler:

barrel length: 350mm, barrel diameter: 140mm and 4 inch tip.

thanks guys i really hope its possible to do.

i had one once many moons ago when i was young and stupid. and yes it poked out at a 45 degree angle. personally wouldn't be seen dead with a cannon nowadays.

that muffler is just too long (35cm) if you want it to go straight backwards. astina mufflers have east-west inlet/outlet. so to put a muffler in north-south, it just wont work with the plumbing involved.

if you have to have a cannon, try finding a shorter one and have it fitted on the drivers side only.

way before cannons were even known about - one guy in bankstwon was the pionner of BA astina with Cannon - others can arguee but in 1999 NO one else had them on it. He paid over $1000 for it.

only sideways but 45 degree angle styles. Back then IT WAS COOL.

Now it is 2005 spec.

Cannons on Commodores now - it's over for Cannons. GET OUT NOW.

but yes the only way it comes out even straight is if almost half of it is sticking out.

I've seen twins done all for looks. the pipe is 45degreed and they used a striagtht through twin outlet Mr2 each side muffler. IMO it look weird even with the mian one black.

only saw it once. Was on the Gold Coast as well. weird but he did it.

It's all about cost. if you want it they will make it you - you just have to pay for it.

when it comes ot exhausts your always better off letting the shop do what you want as they are more will if they can sell you there cannons

Cannon exhaust = 2004, I was the first to put one on a N/A Gemini, and had it replaced 6mths later...

Better off getting sport muff, and get a couple tips welded on

lo cannons ahve been on everything from excels, ford meteors, civics, rx-x to rx-y and even on a suzuki mighty boy. sorry but the gemini with a cannon was done well before then. now an r33 skyline with a big honking turbo running 15psi with a cannon is ok ... because it dont sound like a wet fart in a milo tin. like marcs said get some extractors or even just go cat back with a resonator. sounds a lot sexier.

Nothing wrong with cannons, provided they're actually suited to the application - like on a turbo car

+1 for the catback
Makes a lot nicer sound than the buzz box that is fitted stock
Makes driving a thrill just for the sound

Well actually here is one for you

TOTALLY STOCK.

You want more runs at the lights - more people thinking WTF.

I went 70% stock on the Mx and now EVERYBODY WANTS TO RUN ME. Untill they stop at the lights see some 300mm + rotors and then Do nothing.

I had a cannon on it and well it was only thing on it. full 3inch pipe - oh did have cat - some how found its way a bit off from original possition.

but considering a original stianless mazda muffler only got it 2DB under the offical legal limit in Offical testing. Makes you wonder how HSV's and the like arre allowed to legally sell such items and we have to suffer. because sure my old 140DB system was not ear friendly but it only ever got to that level in anger.

oh and Gemini's Only ever go with cut at diff or 3 inch dumpy chrome tip. Plus driver must have seat reclinded so head only just sits above window line.

I had a cannon and there was nothing I could do to escape the horrid drone it made,
I had it removed and had a 2.25" muffler with a stainless tip put in its place.
It almost looks stock now but produces more power than when I had the cannon fitted.
