i'll probably get laughed at here, but what the heck.

i got to drive one of the first mazda 2 / demio in melbourne last nite, courtesy of a good mate who works for the company.

i can't say i'm the most experienced driver around, but it is, by far, the most impressive 1.5L car i've driven. the pickup was sensational, given that you can feel the car pulling strong even with 5 full sized adults crammed in it!! i'm now curious how it compares to the vtec jazz.

i get to drive the 6 next week, so i get to sample another MZR engine soon.

cheers[/colorost_uid0]

So do they have the variable cam on the intake side same
as the mazda 6 ??
Sounds like fun. Let me know how the Mazda 6 goes
cause after seeing one I wasn't as impressed with the
build quality, maybe just the one I saw.

Regards

apparently it does have variable valve timing, which probably explains why the engine just loved to rev, yet has a lot of torque down low.

i'll let you know how i go with the 6.[/colorost_uid0]

Just a question, is the Mazda6 a 6 cyl or 4? And is it rear wheel drive? I'd like to drop in the Mazda dealer, but don't have the time at the moment.

Besides, I'd probably end up buying a car I have no way of affording

I have heard RAVE reviews about the Mazda 2 and its awesome factory handling and high revving and lots of torque motor... I wouldnt expect it to be a rocket but for under 20k its meant to be a real enjoyable car to drive[/colorost_uid0]

The Mazda 6 is a four cylinder/front drive.

The 6 in the moniker does confuse, it is 626 with the 26 missing off the end.

323's will become Mazda 3's and so on[/colorost_uid0]

Thanks Critter, it is a bit confusing. Esp as it has dual exhaust system, I thought you typically found that on a 6 or 8 (or even 12) cyl engine. I still want one. It would be better in RWD though, even though it is a 4.[/colorost_uid0]

I wouldnt mind having a go in a 2. As Tony said, I've heard great hings about the package for the price, meant to be significantly better than the Barina and Clio which to me sounds quite impressive. At least for the price..... i still want the 6 MPS tho, or the McLaren F1 I saw yesterday.

Not too many laughs yet mugwump, say that on a Porsche board and it might be a diff story tho. ::[/colorost_uid14]

the 2 would definitely make a good urban car, because its so tractable around town, great handling, tight turning circle, supple ride, and "tall boy" driving position. easy to get in and out. but sports potential is probably limited due to its shape.

i don't think i've ever had the privilege of seeing a maclaren f1.

i hope the enzo comes to melbourne next year...[/colorost_uid0]
