EOI GB: [AUS] Carbon fibre & FRP bonnets for BA Astina Hatch and Hardtop
So after a bit of interest in these, here you go:
Carbon or FRP bonnets for BA Astina. These are OEM replicas - the look as per standard bonnets - no extra vents etc. Wet carbon. Uses a standard latch to attach it. Options: - Carbon, with carbon weave visible, underside is black FRP. 6kg - Carbon in black gel coat finish, underside is black FRP. 6kg - Fibreglass/FRP in black gel coat finish. 7kg Extras: - Windscreen washer holes are ¥2000/$25 extra. - Clear coating is ¥22000/$270 extra Standard bonnet is ~15kg to give you an idea of the weight saving. Not to be used with aftermarket gas strut kits. Also available in Carbon or FRP: - Eunos 30X/AZ-3/Presso - http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u40346993 - FD RX-7 --> http://page2.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b134452232 - RX-8 - http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m96459680 Pricing before bulk order, based on one bonnet for Hatch: Carbon: $1155 Black carbon: $876 FRP: $705 Pricing before bulk order, based on one bonnet for Hardtop: Carbon: $1138 Black carbon: $876 FRP: $705 Approximate pricing if 'X' Carbon-finish Hatch bonnets were ordered: 5 bonnets = $942 each. 10 = $895 each. The space in a container to get them here goes up so they're not proportionally cheaper, but still a decent saving. The above prices at least give you an idea. Final cost would depend on what types for what car were ordered, but would be around that price. 100% of cost would need to paid before the order is done, as i'm not carrying the baby for this much! But you'd have a while before everyone was ready, i'd say. Australia-only, too. So, who's interested, and in what type are you after?.

Also, if i'm ordering 5+ bonnets, i should be able to work a further discount from the manufacturer, but once i've got an idea of numbers then i can talk to them

1. PPR
2. 3. 4. 5. We'd probably need to be somewhat quicker than the old Cusco GB, otherwise we'd hit November, and then no one will be keen until Feburary. |

I hadn't decided on what type I'd be after. $450 is alot of 1kg less. Was just gonna go with 'Want one', and decide on type when payment is required.

Nope, sorry. They do do custom work/one offs, but that's a whole headache i have absolutely zero interest in chasing.
Fair enough.

I thought there would be a bigger saving then that...
And they don't come clear coated for $890 dollars

As i said, it may be more once i contact them and i have a better idea of quantity. You might want to go and price up CF bonnets for other cars...and then realise that the market demand for Astina ones is pretty small compared to something like a Nissan Silvia...

No, you're better off with something custom. Too many variables if it's being made in another country.

Not for a decent shop. Personally I think you'd be better off with a frp one to do the vents as when they're added in you'll have to respray it anyway!

What's the legality regarding these? From my limited knowledge I believe FRP with a carbon skin is okay, but it's still not going to be legal without ADR approval is it?
Not that I care too much for that kind of stuff, but with a big ticket item such as a CF bonnet you'd wanna show it off without drawing the wrong attention. |

Generally FRP and CF are a no-no, but from memory some brands can be engineered. As to these ones? No idea.
