The only real way you will find if the tires are good or not is to buy and test yourself...buy a decent set, absolutely frang it around and see what it does...if the tire sucks grab a new set next time you need tires...I have the federals and they do me well..

I'm in much agreence with John's above statement there...

It's pretty simple guys:-
Buy a tyre the costs more than $200rrp and you'll get something good.
Buy under that and you'll get a normal everyday street tyre.

Don't fall for the tyre shop saying these are great tyres @ $120-$150, yes they will be good tyres. But there is still so much better out there if you pay a little more...

Hard tyre wall. Square shoulders, thick centre rib down middle. so more lateral grip when cornering and stable at high speeds.

My kuhmos have done:- 48 laps @ QR, 6 tarmac motorkhanas (all wet,) 1 grass motorkhana, 2 autocrosses. I wouldn't judge them to be anything other than great.

Ryan

p.s. I'm doing number 7 tarmac motorkhana (wet) today.
Okay so now my $245 Kuhmos have done 35,000km, all the above quoted event, and still have 3-4mm of tread on them. Started with 7mm. These are gonna last a long time, well over the 50,000km mark...

they were wets -> using very soft compound tyres in queensland's extreme heat will do that.

sure the feds have been spoken about before. i wouldn't mind taking a set of 595RS's for a hit on the track. i hear wonderful things about them. wet weather traction no so good.

My Kuhmos have now done 37,000km and still have 3-4mm of tread in them. So more than original 40,000km life as originally known.

Toyo R888 are only good for about the 1st year (5000km) of competition in them. After that period, they start to degrade slowly in condition, causing slower times.

I've found the sidewalls seem a little softer than my old eagle f1, so turn-in is a little softer, but they grip heaps more.

they still give good feedback, but it could be better.

i have heard the same about P4s. street tyre with a little bit of motorsports application in it.
but all toyos in all their different models seem to be the best cost vs. performance tyre out there...

hi everyone i work in the tyre industrie and what i find is you get what you
pay for i have tried many different brans of tyres but one thing is for sure
that is tyre pressures if there not right no matter what tyres you got
16' tyres and up should be 40psi no less 14',15, 34psi all round no less

i just changed 4 new goodyear ducaro ga tyres.
it is what i been using for past few years,
partly because i am using the original 13" rim,
there was another goodyear model before ducaro ga but it was discontinued, cannot remember the model name
