Thanks Adam for coming , plus another NG BA Astina who I didnt get to meet bcoz they dissapeared when I went off for breakfast.

It was a great day - really fun.

I managed to get my system together and gave it a quick tune in the morning. The judges were impressed with the sound but I lost points for not meeting all the safety criteria. Still I got a lot of feedback and have some things to work on now. A great start to the new equipment.

I'll chuck up some photos here once they're available.

Dave

Safety criteria? That sounds intriguing. As in how things are anchored?

Great to catch up with you too Dave, sorry i didn't get back i nthe afternoon to see you being judged. Hope you did well though. I must admit that i loved the sounds that i heard.. That ambient recording [was it of the saxomaphone?] was really quite surprising.

Also, got me a copy of that Infected Mushroom CD too, man it rocks!

SAFETY JUDGING

Fused (within 45cm of battery)
Main power to audio system must be adequately fused within 45cm (Cable Length) of the battery. Fuse holder should be securely mounted.

Adequate Gauge / Size
Ensure appropriate gauge of cable in relation to current draw of audio system.

Cables and terminals protected / covered, All components secure
All positive terminals should be covered or insulated. All connections should be suitably terminated. All equipment should be securely mounted or fastened to the vehicle.

Can main cable feed be disabled within 30 seconds
Use of a circuit breaker / switch OR a fuse that can by physically disabled within 30 seconds. If tools are required to disconnect, they should be mounted nearby or obtainable and disconnected within 30 seconds total.

Fire Extinguisher
A suitable Fire Extinguisher must be 'securely' mounted within the passenger compartment of the vehicle easily accessible in the event of an emergency. The Fire Extinguisher must be in service and charged (as shown by the indicator).
My fire extinguisher was just on the floor in the drivers footwell ( normally its behind the driver ) , and the main fuse is within the passengers footwell and couldnt be disconnected from outside the car. I probably could have done it in 30sec by physically removing the battery terminal though. And I didnt know whether it was within 45cm.

All issues I knew before I went in - I was more interested in the judges' feedback on sound.

see more on the rules here :
