Urgent help needed!!!

Hey guys, sorry if this topic has been talked about before but i can't find the time at the moment to search the forum..

I was driving home just then when suddenly when i hit 3rd gear the car started shuddering very hard.. and when trying to start off at the lights again it'll go into a big shudder (like it's about to stall or something) and it's only when i hit about 4-5K on the rpm that it doesn't shudder that hard anymore..

I really am sorry guys if the topic has been started already...your help is very much appreciated. Any suggestions to what this problem may be welcome...

Will

stab in the dark, fuel delivery... failed fuel pump, regulator
or jammed up fuel/air filter will give similar symptoms,

could be slipped timing too... that will do that too! check that the dizzy is in place properly before you muck around with other stuff, then should just need to time it up!

oh have you checked the cylinder compression?

Ok thanks for your help... I will check after work tomorrow. I know this is a vague question, but do you think I might need to replace the dizzy?
And also...I can admit I'm not very good with mechanical side of cars..umm..how do I check the cylinder compression?
