Welcome to AGT.

Beware of cheap mods, some are worthwhile (CAI), some are rice, and some are a waste of money.

I assume by performance you mean in a straight line

Cheap mods:
- CAI (run from front bumper to airbox, removing old piping/resonator) - free if you have piping
- K&N filter - $100~
- Run 98ron fuel and advance timing - $4~ a tank

More expensive mods:
- Cat-back exhaust - $350~ inc. muffler (rust proofed mild steel). Can do it much cheaper by getting muffler off eBay and providing that
- Extractors & full exhaust - $900~. would recommend get stainless steel and mandrel bent exhaust
- Full CAI intake - $???~ - can't remember price, but you can get them from euro otherwise DIY

NON-Engine performance:
- Eibach springs - $500~ - Can get other springs from Japan cheaper (RS*R etc) but these are best 'street' all-rounds available retail
- Whiteline rear swaybar - $150~ - best bang for buck suspension mod i've done
- Front strut brace - $100-200~ - If a v6 owner is getting rid of their old one take it for free or a little $$$ otherwise Whiteline make them or get them from Japan

BEST CHEAP PERFORMANCE MOD:
- weight-loss. empty the boot (spare, jack, etc), clean all the junk out of the car

i didnt even realise you got demerited for no spare?
wonder if an instant-puncture-repair can and a compressed air can form a suitable alternative
