window tinting

Do you guys know how to get new window tinting out?(one thats been installed for a month or so...it hasnt had years to bake onto the window)--and the film is of good quality but but just hasnt been applied on a "clean window" if u know what i mean...plenty of dust bubbles underneath!!

can i just pull it off without having to steam it or use ammonia? ive seen tint professor remove a recent tinting off the rear window of a car and they just pulled the film and it came off without leaving a mark on the window!

yeah i think u can just pull it off. a "lurking" AGT member had tints installed that were too dark for the RTA, and had to pull them off the drivers and passengers windows. and w/out doubt he would have just ripped them off. sum1 on here is a tint specialist thou. do a search and you'll find them. it's a very long thread on window tints.

Best way is to get a heat gun onto it as you go. It softens the adhesive and allows you to pull it off, hopefully without it tearing.

cheers guys! the person who installed it agreed to redo the tinting next week. He also chopped a bit of the rubber trim off on one of the doors..the one that sits just behind the window glass...so u reckon he is liable to changing it?? i m kinda pissed off because his job was pretty crap...bubbles, dirt and trim cut!!

The fella that Leigh [red frog] mentioned is called "tinter" on these forums.. I believe his name is Rob and he's located in Ringwood, Melbourne.. I haven't personally met him, which i've been meaning to do as i need to fix my back window, however he has a great reputation for quality work.

Regards
Adam

Well you got a cheap job done and now it's time to pay the price. It probably would end up cheaper to get a refund and take it to someone profesional.

yeah well like i said, braxta, careful what you get, cos james had to rip off the passenger and driver's tints bcos they were too dark. took it for a pink slip, and they wouldn't accept it. so that was a waste of money. and HELL i could neva see out the rear window very well when i was driving it! just too dark IMO. dunno what it looks like these days.

Get your money back either way. If the tint shop and dealer accepted the job in the first place then the next tint job won't be much better. How much time, effort and stuffing around are you willing to spend before they get it right.
It's a problem and you need to take ownership of it before it gets out of hand.

BTW. The dealership sends their cars down to the cheapest local tint shop and charges a healthy margin for the privilege. That way they can offer every 4th/5th customer free tinting 'cos you have paid for it.
