[color=#000000ost_uid0]im not much of a sound guru but mine are aimed to meet between the driver and passanger seat. I guess the aim is to imitate sitting in front of a live concert so as long as they point towards the back it should sound ok [/colorost_uid0]

Don't even THINK of mounting tweets at the top of the A pillar.
NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

Ideally they should be not more than 200mm from the mid-bass drivers and angled towards the headrest on the opposite side of the car, for good integration.

Sehkahn....
1 12" Type R in a good enclosure will BURN 2 Type S 10s.
No contest, same $$......[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]personally, i prefer the tweets in the A pillars. regardless of what the 'rules' of SQ are

i like the separation, and having the hi-freq higher up. Just sounds nicer to me !![/colorost_uid0]

Hehehehehe, no A pillar huh? Interesting. Well, i came up with another idea. I don't know if they'd fit but I have the space for the entry lights in the doors [with no lights in them]. I wonder if they would be OK? The only problem is that they may be too low, and too far back in the doors to get a clear sound.......

****! Why don't I just get some of the JBL GTO 5x7's with the directional tweeter! That would solve all problems, and I wouldn't have to cut any trim away. A small comprimise on SQ.

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Critter, I meant the type R's in my post. I am getting the 10" 1000Watt Type R's in a custom box. Quoted $1800 fitted for the 2 subbies, custom box, Alpine MRD-500 Mono Power AMP, perspex cutout for shelf and wiring / installation. Considering the AMP is $800 on it's own, Plus the subs are $349 retail, I think thats not a bad deal.

Plus, the type R's are awesome.[/colorost_uid0]

Well that's alright then

MrPayner
Sorry, but that's another dodgy idea.
Tweeters are very directional and you want a good clear path to direct them into otherwise you will barely hear them at all.....[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Cool MrShadow!!

What do they sound like man?? And what have you got running up front [HU, AMP, etc??]

EDIT: Actually I think I may have got them confused with the [color=#00FF00ost_uid0][bost_uid0]FUSION[/bost_uid0][/colorost_uid0] Powerplant 5x7 speakers, but anyway the JBL's have the swivel tweeter too!!

Cheers
Adam[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Acutally Chris,

Out of the speakers mentioned above [and i realise you may not have auditioned them] which have you found give the better results

- JBL GTO7525 5x7 series speakers [bost_uid0]OR[/bost_uid0]
- FUSION's FPS-572 5x7 Powerplant speakers??

OR even the FUSION FPC-65 6½" Splits?? I like the flush mount style tweeters.. Bearing in mind that i'd like to run the Alpine HU with a V12 5 channel amp [with a 10" Type-R sub]

Thanks man

Adam[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]"AstinaGT's sound guru" say........

Come visit at www.caraudioaustralia.com and run that one around, I haven't heard those particular models even if I would generally prefer JBL's (these things are to taste tho). A number of people at CAA will have heard them,it's a big place.

Stick a thread up in General and you'll have plenty of answers.

Then visit us on the SQ forum and say hello.[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Well, the 5x7's aren't in yet, but the 7x9's (JBL GTO Series, of course) are in the back - just running off a 4 x 45W HU (Kenwood), but the sound is amazing, can hardly wait till the 5x7's are installed. I've been meaning to ask, can you just pull off the speaker grill, or do you need to pull off the whole door trim? ???[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]you'll need to pull of the whole door trim, as the speaker grille is plastic welded to the trim.

3 screws and a few clips, thats all. no biggie[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]Thanks Rupe. I've had the speakers for, like, 3 months now, I just haven't got around to installing them yet. I'll have to have a look when it comes back from the mechanics...[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]hm.. i thought it was 4 screws. 2 inside the bin, one at the door handle and another one visible when the door is opened.

btw, dan or dave. what is the model number of the jvc stacker u've got? and is it the same size as the curent models. i was wondering if it's possible to fit it in the door bin with a lil modification....[/colorost_uid0]

[color=#000000ost_uid0]ah you're right - i forgot the doorhandle one!

umm no idea on model number, but i'll check for you...

and you could fit it in the door, but i wouldn't like to with the door being slammed all the time. but thats just a personal thing. i guess if it was insulated from the shock well enought id wouldn't be a problem[/colorost_uid0]
