FS: Hyperblack taillights to suit BJII-J48 Astina (SOLD)

Hi guys,

The black taillights aren't going to fit into the SP18 scheme so I've decided that I've had my fun with the goofy things and am now passing the mantle onto the next who feels themself worthy of such a prize.

I puchased the taillights new off RZperformance ebay shop for $278(inc. s/h) on 10.03.04 this year. I just checked ebay and they are available from the US or you can buy for $285+s/h from Ozeparts.com.au; The lights were a very bad fit out of the box and have been trimmed to perfectly fit the shape of the car; The lights are in the same condition I received them in and have original bubblewrap and box for transport & storage; Taillights are bodies only and require the use of the globes currently in use on your vehicle as is the case with the oem product.

I am located in the Brisbane area and would prefer to sell locally, in this case I can help with fitting as I have it down to a very fine art now.
My asking price is $150, I have no idea if this is fair or not, however I can say that my lights fit well and will save you a couple of hours trimming them down if you buy them new... Please PM me if you are interested in purchasing or have questions about the lights in general.

Cheers;
Gav.

Hi Riceboy,

There are four lugs or something that project out from the light bodies to the back of the car. I had to take out the metal stubs that line them up and cut them all some 1/2" shorter at the top part of the lights. Then I had to retap the inside of these lugs to allow the stubs to screw back in and also where the thread goes in where they bolt onto the car. It took me a couple of hours because I didn't know what was going on and why they didn't fit in the first place.

Sorry about my explanation, it's too early. It was a pain in the arse...

Hi again Riceboy,

If by perfect you mean they bolted on, then I guess that is one interperation of the word. Mine went on as you describe and had a worse fit on the left side too, they noticeably stuck out compared to the factory lights. Like I said, by trimming the top mounting lugs progressively you will eventually get a nice fit. With the gap there my biggest worry is it collecting organic material like leaves and large bugs, not to mention heavy rain being able to easily make contact with the globes!

Had huge rain here yesterday and Sunday night and they are fine! I took them off last night and was half expecting a small portion of water to drip out, but to my surprise they was none that I could see.

I've had a request to show some images of the taillights, so here they are on my car for all to see.

Hi jcywong,

Did you have a hard time getting yours to fit nice or did you leave them as they are?

I haven't seen it before, but I'd imagine that the black taillights would look good with the front headlights blacked in aswell.
And thanks for the props Twiggy. On the righthand side I got a better fit than Mazda can!

I think the gap ontop is like an optical illusion, because instead of having the red lense that tucks in a bit, you have the clear lens meeting at an edge to the black backing. But to me the gap seems consistant around the top and down along the boot hatch.

It looks awsome on the BJI Riceboy, I have problems with it on the BJII though... I'm gonna leave mine as is, It's NOT going to look good in black with the single bulbs. At best I would colour code them sometime down the track?

Would you consider $150 with you paying for the postage to Melb?
