Hahaha chromies arnt done much anymore hence why my other wheels are blue to match my trim... But go hard or go home, big wheels jammed into the guards, don't matter what they are.

Yesterday was productive for the 3 hours I had. Went to Anthonys place and was generously given a few more bits to turn my engine into a bpt. I then finished off the rubber sound insulation on the floor, so now I can install all the wiring back into the car! Got the main harness and fusebox installed and taped it together roughly. Installed the abs circuit into the loom 100%, as well as the airbag system. Today is my 4 year anniversary with Ellen, so I'm highly doubtful anything will get done today!, If it does then I'll have to take her to the doctors to see if she's ok! Haha. Monday will be the day of craziness to remove the wreck and clean up the 200 bits I don't need!

Done and running! I pulled every fuse and every relay out, cleaned all terminals and metal bits, then replaced them all to a tight fit. Put everything else back together to a snug fit, cleaned and tightened the battery terminals, then key in and Varoom! All good now. Thank you all for your advice...

if you port matched your head, why does the intake and exhaust still need to be done?

that's why it's called port matching... you first match the gasket size to maximise the port size, then you're matching the port diameters of what is bolted to it

Oh wise Darryl, what gains in our tiny motors does this gasket/port matching do. If I were to pay the pros $80/hr it would certainly be an expensive job!

Today I've almost cut my finger off, used up three rolls of tape and discovered a few gems. Firstly, to block off the antenna hole in pur BA's, a wiper bolt rubber grommet fits perfect, although it sits up 2-3mm it'll save me the hassle of installing one before it gets welded shut. Secondly, if your fuel flap requires you to pull the lever up the whole way to unclip, there's three positions on the flap end to choose. From factory it was in the center. This allows for the potentially stretched cables over time.

there's antenna block off plates in various cheap cars, such as the BG 323, 121 and older Civic... maybe you should give it a try

I'll tell you when i get my replacement engine mount. Apart from that though, the car's a trooper! Compared to how i got it (160,000kms i think) it doesn't feel any different and for a 11 year old car it all holds together really well i would say. Basically a well built mazda that keeps on going! (I wouldn't expect any less)

Ahh it'll do. Once its all back together and running ok, I'll strip it down again and send it to the painters. Pretty annoying but that's how the cookie will crumble...

they don't make cars the same any more... the 3s have thinner sheet metal, bad suspension components, crazy electrics, and other ford influenced crap that just makes the car not quite as durable as the Protege

Cut up my hardtop. still have to remove the rear suspension etc and make one more cut. All the rest is in my mates trailer also sorted out 4 large boxes of rubbish, so whilst its got less stuff, it seems just as cramped...got loads more to clean up.
